This place is amazing! It was even better than we have expected. Bonnie and Tom are very kind, warm and welcoming people. They gave us great tips what to do and where to go, showed us around their place and even made us fresh orange juice and lemonade! The description of the cabin was accurate and it was lovely furnished. We felt very comfortable during the whole stay and would have loved to stay longer. It's a perfect location to go basically anywhere on the Hilo-side of the Island. Would definitively recommend this place! Mahalo Bonnie and Tom!

Bonnie and Tom's place is very beautiful, comfortable and overall special. We felt warmly welcomed, and appreciated that our hosts were nearby and accessible, and also enjoyed privacy, with the forest on 2 sides of such a sweet little house. We were well provided for, and Bonnie and Tom were very helpful, and were a huge part of making our week on the Big Island so very special. We would happily stay with them again. Highly recommended.

Warm welcome by Tom and Bonnie . This little "light house" was a treasure. The kitchen was really workable and delightful, the view from upstairs, the bedroom was magnificent.

Bonnie and Tom's beautiful lodge was more than what we had expected. Everything was clean and well managed, it was a very special experience for us. Their place is deep in the forest/farm. Imagine taking a hot shower in the middle of nowhere that's surrounded by trees. Imagine falling asleep while listening to crickets and frogs, looking at thousands of stars in the sky. Before the trip, we were excited/worried about the eco-friendly toilet. We've never used anything like this but it was a cool experience channeling our inner cats ;D Thank you Bonnie and Tom! Thank you so very much for everything you've done for us! You've made our trip unforgettable!

Everything was as described, they were in full communication with me before the trip and helped out with directions day of too. Tom and I moved to Hawaii 5 years ago after we retired. We have a 5 acre property and with family are slowly creating a small farm, growing a variety of citrus, avocados, pineapple, bananas as well as a variety of tropical fruits. We also raise chickens. All the dwellings on the property are totally off grid using solar energy and rainwater harvesting. Our vision is to create an off grid homestead and farm using organic growing methods and decreasing our carbon footprint. Our goal is to curb our personal impact on climate change and global warming, even if it is only in a very small way. As environmental activist, Bill McKibben, says "The problem with climate change is that it's very large, and as individuals we seem quite small against it, so it's easy for people to feel disempowered." We hope that in some small way, people who stay in our cabin, will feel empowered to make their own small changes. This can be as basic as a shift in thinking from mindless energy use to "mindful" energy usage, like turning out unneeded lights. We believe that millions of small changes can create big results
There is something magical about the sun providing your energy, the rain your water, and feeding the trees with your organic wastes.. We enjoy living simply and in harmony with the earth. We love interacting with people and enjoy the diversity it brings to our lives.
