Had such an amazing stay with Takino and Kyoko. Kyoko really took great care of me while there and taught me quite a bit about Kyoto's history! She always made sure I was ok and greatly accommodated. Both Takino and Kyoko gave me great suggestions gor great sightseeing. The place was clean, nice and quiet. Would def recommend to a friend.

It's the second time for me to stay in Takino's house. The reason why I like this place is exactly because of its location. Some may find that it's a bit far away, but I enjoyed the silence there that it takes me away from the touristy place with a taste of how Kyoto truly is. The breakfast Takino's mum provide was perfect. You can feel that she truly cares about the guest who stayed there! Will definitely come back for the third time :D

This is a really lovely guest house in Kyoto, very close to an incredible temple complex. If you are looking for a unique, traditional, Japanese experience - this could be a great option for you. The house has been renovated so that it feels modern, but also is true to Japanese tradition - think tatami mats, futons and amazing yakuza. As this was a guest house, we had a shared bathroom, but it was always free and was spotlessly clean (as was the whole house.) Our host's mother very kindly made us a tasty breakfast each morning, and was very friendly - she didn't speak much English, and we didn't speak much Japanese, so we mainly communicated using international smiling and pointing, and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)translate. We didn't meet Takino, but there were two other young men we met during our stay, both of whom were very polite and had a good level of English which made checkin easier. The location of this house isn't right in the centre of Kyoto - but there is a convenient bus stop extremely close to the house, which takes you into the centre of town in 25 -30 minutes, and there is a train station about 10 mins walk away, which means the Bamboo forest and temples/shrines/gardens that surround it are easy to get to. Would highly recommend.
