We actually stayed for a month and used the apartment as a base to relax and take off for a 12-day safari and day trips, while leaving most of our stuff securely behind during excursions. We had previously taken another 14-day safari and stayed at a backpacker guesthouse immediately before which was good, but we wanted more privacy, so had booked the apartment about 2 months in advance knowing we would want a change at that point.
It's open space with a back veranda, sliding glass doors, and gorgeous views of the mountain range, church etc. The veranda is wide enough to sit down and was also the space where we hung our wash on provided racks which dried within a couple hours w all that sun. The temperature was sublime and we opened the sliding doors all the time.
WiFi is great. Because we travel for 7-8 months at a time and move around, and the focus in Namibia was the 25 days of safaris, we elected not to have a car while in Namibia.
We're walkers, and from the apartment we could walk to town (40 min), to a few really good restaurants (10 min), even down to Joe's Beerhouse (40 min), but taking Prime Taxi, Leonardo owner if after dark/late to get back.
If you do walk, minimize personal items and money for safety.
There's a common area downstairs for laundry - free. Two washers, dryers did not function but we didn't need them.
Apartment is secure with cameras and security people. It's quiet.
Though there was confusion during check-in, electricity went off twice, and water was inadvertently turned off at the street, we did get a quick response each time and everything was rectified. Perhaps most people only stay for a few days and our stay was unusual and led to utilities needing to be reactivated. I do think this is the reason. We're not complaining just noting that this did occur. We actually thought it was funny.
What would have made our stay even better, would be a larger bed, queen size at minimum. We're average size and slim. The bed is short, narrow, and our feet would sometimes hang off the bottom. Perhaps we're used to a king-size bed because our dogs always slept w us(!), but really a larger bed would be great for times when two people rent the apartment.
Note: If we were ever to return, we would stay at Carmen's again.
