Thanks to living on the southern east coast, we found ourselves once again having to evacuate our coastal community due to the threat of hurricane Irma. Last year we had to evacuate due to hurricane Matthew and tent camped at Fairystone Park with our animals because of the lack of hotels/cabins that would accept pets. This time camping wasn't an option as my daughter is six months pregnant. Airbnb was a lifesaver and so was Steve! Not only was his cabin fairly priced, he accommodated our pets, and was willing to work with us if we needed to cancel or extend our stay. The cabin was beautiful and quaint, and the porch dressed with rocking chairs was a calm and relaxing place to enjoy the cool mountain air. All the comforts of home are tucked neatly away in the cabin that offers a natural outdoorsy feel. Not far from the cabin is a nice lavender farm with a really cute gift shop, down the road is a general store with anything you could possibly need in terms of grocery or fresh country canned goods, and there is even a nice little store that sells handmade bird houses for the bird enthusiasts. There's even a few quaint restaurants nearby such as Mabry Mill and Janes Cafe; unfortunately we didn't get to try them all, but we do plan on returning under better circumstances. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only minutes away and offers stunning views and plenty of picnic areas. About 3 miles down the road is Lovers Leap with a gorgeous view and space to take photos with family/friends. There was so much to do that provided a relaxed and stress free environment, all of which was available for the price of standard nights hotel stay. Although our area sustained flooding and minor damage from Irma, we were given the okay to start re-entry earlier then expected so we left 3 days earlier than planned. Again, being extremely accommodating, Steve refunded some of the stay; a very kind and thoughtful gesture. You will surely not experience a better mountain top excursion. We can't wait to return and see how much more Meadows of Dan has to offer!

Clean, very nicely decorated, beautiful peaceful surroundings. Well equipped kitchen. No provisions, so stop in town or bring coffee, bar soap, and shampoo.

We came across this cabin as a last-minute option, and it was the best thing that could've happened! Steven was so quick to respond, which helped put me at ease trying to schedule a trip 4 days out. Everything was incredibly clean and I felt Cabin 13 was more updated than the pictures show. Though it would sleep 8, 2/4 beds are futons. One bed and one futon share the loft room, one futon in the living room, and one bedroom. We probably spent more time in all the awesome rocking chairs on the porch than inside. It was nice to have a few games and the kitchen was decently stocked in terms of cookware. Surprising amount of activities to do in the area - hiking at Buffalo Mountain & Rocky Knob, Chateau Morrisette, and downtown Floyd are all must-dos and Crooked Road Cafe a convenient walk down the hill.

This cabin is one of a number of cabins nestled on a large hill/small mountain beside the Dan River. Although there are other cabins nearby, this particular cabin faces the wooded Dan River valley, which means you can kick back on the wide elevated back porch and have nothing in your view but trees, birds, and natural beauty. The cabin itself is a sturdy modern log structure, well-decorated, with amenities including, importantly, a dishwasher. The cabin was very clean and well-furnished- plenty of sitting space. The stone fireplace looks cozy, although it was not the time of year so we did not use it. We found this cabin to be very much to our liking. There are several wineries nearby. We went to Chateau Morrisette, only 8 miles or so away- turns out they have a wonderful restaurant, with terrace dining overlooking a million-dollar view of the mountains and valleys below. We had our dog with us, and she was treated like royalty- they brought her dog treats and a bowl of water and she could stay with us while we dined. Much closer to the cabin is the village of Meadows of Dan, which has a general store, several eateries, a toy shop, a Christmas store, and a candy factory. Rocky Knob is nearby, as is Fairy Stone State Park, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is only a mile or two away. To summarize, this is a very well-appointed cabin in an attractive setting, and conveniently situated to many nearby attractions.

Beautiful cabin in a quiet and scenic area! Our family met up here for a small reunion, and it was absolutely perfect! The cabin is very well-equipped with everything you need, so you feel at home as soon as you walk in the door. It has a cozy, charming, and comforting feel. Both the bathroom and kitchen are plenty big and up-to-date, and the laundry machines were an added plus! Our family also enjoyed the deck in the back during our downtime from exploring the area (grill was charcoal so we skipped any grilling). The Rocky Knob trail is a quick drive away and Mabry Mill is a great historical area to visit. Overall a wonderful long weekend trip in this lovely cabin and location!

Steven helped me get back into the cabin when I locked myself out in the middle of the night. Very attentive and kind, and the cabin was very well kept. Secluded and quiet getaway
