I can't say enough about the house -- it was bigger and more beautiful than I anticipated -- and the view and cool breeze were absolutely fantastic. It was even a good place from which to view June storms over Hydra. I just want to say one thing: the climb to the house is not for the faint-hearted. It was worth it for us to find such a peaceful location, and I would stay there again, but if you have any trouble with climbing or descending steps, this is not for you! It's a steady 15-20 minute climb to get there, that is, if you manage to go straight up and not take any wrong turns! It would be helpful if Dioni could provide a map of the paths prior to arrival. Dioni was not able to meet me but the donkey driver found me easily and waited while I bought supplies at the grocery store. Pick up coffee and sugar, if you need it, because there might not be any at the house, as I discovered! The pantry does have some staples such as oregano, and olive oil, etc., which was nice, and we really did feel like we were just borrowing her ancestral home. The cooktop is small (one burner, plus a mini burner for the espresso pot), and the oven is about the size of a microwave, but it was sufficient for anything we needed to do. There is a washing machine and lines to hang clothing out to dry. The bedroom has a desk and armoire and and the bed was very comfortable. There is a day bed and a single bed on opposite sides of the large living room, and those were also very comfortable. It was very easy to feel at home there. We enjoyed it very much.

Lovely House with a great view! If you're fit, the many steps from the port to the house shouldn't be a huge problem. The place is the ideal departure for walks to the monasteries, to beaches and mount Eros. The rooms are lovely furnished and especially the kitchen is well-equiped, there even is a washing machine. Of course, the huge balcony with its view is another highlight. Dioni gave us a warm and personal welcome with fresh watermelon, self-made liquor and sweets. And her fig marmelade is perfektly divine! Dioni is very open-minded and we've had good talks about Hydra, greek history and current topics.

Dioni's place is fantastic. The views, the terrace, and the flat. We found it an ideal place to get away from just about everything. Dioni is also a great host, very helpful and knowledgable, with lots of tips for what to do on the island.

A gorgeous stay at SIGALA’s House! Everything was perfect, and really the short walk (15 ‘) to reach the House dominating the magnificent view of Hydra’s bay is not difficult. We did it with pleasure enjoying the time of taking a breath when climbing the stairs allow us to discover a new place of this so charming and authentic island. The house has a lot of character and is well equipped for a comfortable stay. Dyoni is so kind, warm and very caring. She speaks very well of the history of Hydra and the artistic heritage, especially the painters of the 70’s and 80’s. The Limoncello of the house she offered us and that we tasted on the terrace admiring the sea, will be one of our best souvenirs of this trip in Greece. This is really the right choice to take a step back and get fresh ideas upon your life, rocked by the beauty of Hydra…

Great place with a breathtaking view, clean, peaceful and quiet. The place offers an amazing and breathtaking view and it is very quiet and peaceful. The downside of benefiting from all of these things is the distance from the port and main areas. It can be quite a hike with the number of stairs to climb but great exercise if one doesn't mind. The host is really nice. We loved the place !

A fantastic view fom the terrace and the kitchen window, enjoy the sunset every evening. A charming house high up on the mountain overlooking Hydra and port. Quite a few steps to climb but makes the peaceful mountain part of town and the view even more worth it. Dioni has been a very accommodating and welcoming hostess, communicating well and providing necessary information and advice for things to enjoy on Hydra.

Views that blow your senses and a fabulous spot on the balcony to watch Hydra and the world go by. The accommodation was comfortable, clean with an authentic rustic vibe that is hard to find these days. Clean and tidy with everything you need to just sit and soak up the natural beauty that Hydra has to offer.....or ponder the moments. Bring good walking shoes as the steps will keep you fit. We actually enjoyed the walks up and down as the food in Greece is so good. Nice way to keep the waistline in check...takes approx 20mins and picking the middle route is steeper but is an adventure and recommend to see all the great homes and Hydra life.
