Staying with Diane was the best part of our trip. We started in Woodstock and the headed to Sleepy Hollow. We ended our trip at Diane's. I cannot put into words what this overnight visit did for our spirit but it was healing, and warm, and cozy, and real, and genuine. Diane is such a sincere bright energy. When you step into her home, you feel embraced by the history of the home and the kindness of its inhabitants. Outside, the stars blaze bright and the night sky looks other worldy. They waited up for us (we came later than planned) and were so welcoming and pleasant and cool. The upstairs suite is just amazing. It looks like a room from another era. There were warm and fuzzy blankets waiting for us, fresh soaps and towels and robes. The water in the shower was hot, the room was the perfect temperature (30 degrees outside) and the sheets were so soft and smelled so good. We slept better this night than our whole trip. We woke up to a beautiful breakfast, fresh pumpkin pankcakes, hot coffee, delicious banana bread, and local yogurt and milk. The best part of the trip was just sitting and talking to Diane. Her neighbor stopped by to visit and watching their interaction made me believe in humanity again. There was so much kindness between them. I decided we have to come back. Diane really opened our hearts. We talked about so much and really connected. The place is magic. It's the only way I can describe it. I have a 100 more words , but magic is the best way I can put it.

Diane and Larry were wonderful -- they were so patient in answering all our questions about farming and loved showing us their animals. The farm is very peaceful and wonderful -- the animals are loved and very friendly. A most pleasant and relaxing experience. We can't wait to return for another visit.

Diane & Larry were wonderful and gracious hosts. They were generous with their time and talents. Diane is an amazing cook - I will have dreams about her blueberry pancakes and banana cake. Larry gave my daughters a tour of the farm and let's them spend time with the animals. The rooms are charming and we had everything we needed. Diane gave us a wonderful suggtion for dinner and for our travels the next day. We could not have had a better stay. Thank you!

Our stay at La Basse Cour was lovely. Diane was a wonderful host, very kind and welcoming to us. She made a delicious breakfast each morning, gave us a tour of the farm, let us pet the animals and answered all of our questions about their land and home. She gave us great recommendations of things to do and places to eat in the area and simply made us feel comfortable and at home. She was very flexible with our coming and going which was convenient as well. We plan to recommend La Basse Cour to friends and most certainly plan to go back another time. (Larry was great as well, just very busy with the animals during our stay.)

Diane and Larry were fantastic hosts! Former academics and engineers, their rural life is intentional and the juxtaposition of rural life with urban understanding helped our small family "plug-out" in this very authentic farm environment. Gracious from the moment we arrived until the moment we said our goodbyes, we can't say enough good things about how they treated our family. We were in town for the Hall of Fame Induction in Cooperstown and on the last day, our 2 year old daughter said that she couldn't wait to "go back to he farm" to tell Diane and Larry about it. We wish them all the best and hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Awesome! Larry has a very wide knowledge on animals and farming, he took us for complete tour farm. He answered all our questions (a lot!) and even took us for a second tour later in the morning. Diane is a nice and warm person, we had our morning coffee while sharing memories and talking about farming! She gave us some interesting magazines. The room was super cosy, I felt like I was at my grand mother's childhood house. Welleda products were provided in the bathroom (much appreciated!). The breakfast was really good and done with local products only. We skipped lunch since it filled us up before our hiking afternoon. Hope to come back next year for another relaxing week-end at the farm! Diane and Larry: Thank you for this amazing moment.

It was my skeptical mom's first trip with Airbnb, and I couldn't have picked a more reassuring place for her than Diane and Larry's farm. They've had their B&B for seven years I think, but they've only been on Airbnb since this summer, hence the small number of reviews. But I knew in advance I found a good place when I saw how Diane had warmly responded to each of the other reviews, which are all positive! Usually you only see the proprietor doing this when the reviews are negative. I've been struggling over the last few days to write this review because I know that my words won't do justice to either their place or to Larry and Diane themselves. The two of them apparently met when discussing how to make the best type of water filter for impoverished communities abroad. I believe that Diane herself then traveled to Kenya, Burundi, and Haiti to deliver these filters. My mom and I were only there for one night, but I had such a intellectually stimulating chat with Diane about nonprofits and economic development that I left feeling like I was saying goodbye to a long-term friend. On top of their farm/B&B, she coordinates the operations for about six different non-profits in her local community! Some of the food that they grow on their farm (eggs and vegetables) goes to the neediest in their area, so your stay with them is a real giveback to their community. Their farm is indeed a real working farm. For more photos, I believe they have a (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) page under "La Basse Cour." They also have a website you can search for. I gathered that Larry oversees the farm side of the business, and Diane does the B&B side. We stayed in the upstairs suite. Our bed sheets were turned back, like in a hotel, and we had plenty of cosy quilts. The iron stove downstairs sends up plenty of heat, and there were electric-heat baseboards too. We slept with our windows slightly ajar, which made me worry that roosters at dawn would wake us up. But we heard nothing since they are all kept in a hen house. The only sound with the window cracked was rain falling on the roof. Breakfast included homemade cranberry-orange bread, about fourteen banana pancakes for the two of us, yogurt with granola, and other goodies. I skipped lunch after we left and barely ate anything for dinner. Lastly, as we walked to our car, about 25 of their ducks followed us from the farmhouse. Such a CUTE place!
