Fantastic main door flat over two levels within easy walking distance of the city centre and right on the airport bus route. Lots of great communal space, private bathroom and access to a shared garden (great when it's sunny!)

El alojamiento
Our home is a three-bed, 2 public room, 2 bathroom, main-door property in a quiet neighbourhood of Edinburgh. We have a spacious double bedroom available with your own private bathroom (not en-suite) and a shared living room. There is a double bed suitable for 2, although a good quality single airbed can be provided for a third person. We also have a travel cot for infants.

We have free WiFi throughout the flat and you can also access the PC in our study should you need it. The flat is ground level and basement so there are stairs to negotiate! The basement lounge is very bright.

Our newly developed home is excellently located to make your trip to Edinburgh easy and fun. Parks, canals, rivers and even the Pentland hills are easy to reach. We are a 10min walk to Haymarket train station, a 25 minute walk to the city centre and all major bus links pass within a 2 minute walk of the door. The airport bus stops 100m from the door.

There are many good pubs and local restaurants close by and a cinema complex just 5mins walk away. We have a private parking space right outside the front door should you need it.

We hope you will feel at home in our flat and are happy to offer any advice on attractions, where to eat, day trips etc. We are also happy to leave out breakfast food for you to help yourself to.

Acceso para huéspedes
The bedroom and bathroom are for your private use and you can use our kitchen to prepare your own food if required. We have two lounge rooms, both of which you can use.

Great location for access to the city centre, either on foot or by bus with excellent pubs and restaurants (Italian, Indian, Chinese, Brazilian) minutes walk away.

Things to do in Edinburgh - FREE

• Visit the national museum on Chambers Street – excellent. You could spend all day here!

• Visit the national gallery (on Princes street) and the modern art galleries

• Walk from the castle to the palace along the royal mile – there are many different museums along this street, most of which are free. The museum of childhood is particularly good. There are often street performers along this street usually around St Gilles cathedral.

• Do a guided walk or ghost walk – these usually start on the Royal Mile around the cathedral area. You can pay for some but many are free.

• Climb “Arthur’s seat” – we recommend this to all our visitors. It is a MUST! It is a great walk and the views from the top are amazing. You can walk there from our house (about 4km) then climb up to the top. Or get the number 35 bus to Holyrood palace and walk from there. We do this walk every Christmas day!

• Play pitch and putt golf on Bruntsfield links. There is a pitch and putt green here which is free to play on. You can hire clubs and balls from the local pub (the Golf tavern) or during the day there is a hut renting equipment.

• Picnic and people watch in the Meadows – The Meadows is the largest park next to Edinburgh University. On a sunny day it is full of people picnicking and playing all kinds of sport. It is about 2.5km walk from our house.

• Beaches – there is a nice promenade at Portobello with a sandy beach. It does get busy at weekends. It is about 25min drive or get the number 26 bus from Haymarket which will take about 30mins. It does get busy on sunny days. There is also a lovely Victorian style indoor swimming pool half-way along the promenade.

• The best beaches are 1 hour drive away at Gullane or Yellowcraigs. If you go here best to bring a picnic. There are toilets. Lovely sand and clean water. People swim here all the time.

• Visit South Queensferry for ice-cream or lunch. 20 min drive – admire the famous rail bridge. Boat trips are available. If you walk under the railway bridge back towards the city there are some nice hidden sandy beaches. Parking is free on Sundays but otherwise you have to pay.

• Beecraigs country park near Linlithgow – 25km from home. Country Park with colour coded trails lead you through to attractions such as the adventure playground and deer farm

• Walk to the botanical gardens – beautiful park with interesting visitor centre and various cafes. 5km from home but a nice walk to get there through Stockbridge area.

• The nicest walk towards the city centre is to cross the road outside the house, go right about 30m and go up some steps. Follow the road up and you reach Harrison Park. Walk through the park and you reach the canal. Turn left and you can walk towards city centre. Turn right and you can follow the canal out into the countryside.

Places to eat – Local

There are several good places to eat within a short walk of our flat without having to go into the city centre.

• The Caley Sample Rooms – pub on our street (turn right out the front door and it is less than 100m away). Serves good pub food, wine and craft beer but doesn’t allow children after 8pm.

We are an early 40's couple who love to travel and meet people. Edinburgh is our home and it is a great city to spend time in. We are very easygoing and relaxed hosts, giving guests as much freedom or guidance as they need. In September 2013 our little girl was born and she is fitting in perfectly with our lifestyle! We both like to run, cycle and be outdoors so we know lots of good areas around the city that can be explored. Enjoying good food is important to us and we know lots of excellent places in Edinburgh to enjoy great scones, fine food and good drinks.
