Our place is a beautifully appointed third-floor condo in a historic building with great views of Portland's Deering Oaks Park. We are within walking distance of the University of Southern Maine, Maine Medical Center, and Mercy Hospital, excellent restaurants, downtown culture, and local sports facilities including Hadlock Field. Highway access two minutes away by car, and the Portland International Jetport is a fifteen-minute drive.
Our place is a 1015 sq. ft. third-floor condo with gorgeous views, easily accessible to all local attractions and to the highway for adventures elsewhere in the state of Maine. Ideal for visitors to Portland and surrounding areas: twenty minutes from area beaches! If you want to visit our lovely town, are on a short-term business or school assignment, or are considering a move, we’ve got the perfect location for getting to know the city and a travel and business ready set up.
The condo has two bedrooms, a master bedroom with two large closets, a guest room that is currently used as a writing studio/office that can easily be converted into a bedroom, and a comfy couch. (We’ve got a roller bed and an air mattress that can be set up on request.) *In summer, we've got window unit air conditioners for both bedrooms.
There is one bathroom with a bathtub and a shower, and the kitchen, while small, has a gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, and espresso machine.
Our living room is great for lounging, listening to records (we have a large collection of classic and indie rock), watching movies (Netflix included), or playing the Wii. Guests are welcome to listen to records and read books – just please treat them nicely and put them back where you found them!
There are lots of little spots to hang out: window seat, breakfast nook, etc.
We will always have clean linens and towels and toilet paper on hand, plus morning coffee fixings for short-term guests. In summer guests are welcome to use our bikes and/or beach chairs and umbrella.
We’ve lived in Portland for more than twenty years, and can give you the skinny on restaurants, music and arts venues, local shops, outings, and many adventures to be had nearby.

Guests are invited to use any of the rooms in our apartment - storage space and basement are off limits, since we share them with our neighbors.
Atención a los huéspedes
We will be traveling during the times our place is rented out, but you can always text us with questions or concerns and we'll do our best to help. (My background is as an academic administrator and writer, so I'm a speedy communicator. Also, I love introducing people to Portland.)

Our neighbors on the second floor have a new baby, so thanks for keeping that in mind in the entryway/stairwell and at night.
Our condo shares an entrance and stairwell with our second floor neighbors, who have a little baby. (Her name is Marlowe!) We'd appreciate it if guests would be mindful of this and keep noise down both in the shared area and after ten p.m.

I am a writer and freelance narrative consultant for business, and I have also done advocacy journalism. I published a collection of Maine travel essays, Two for the Road: Adventures in Maine, that explores some lesser known destinations in this beautiful state. My partner, Galen Richmond, is a musician and electrical engineer. We love to travel, and we know what a difference an excellent host can make when you're in a new place - so we strive to provide that for our guests!
