This is a retreat so we prefer quiet and no parties.
This is a working farm. During some seasons there will most likely be projects underway. But they will not be loud or at inconvenient hours.
- As a farm, we often will be doing food processing such as canning, dehydrating, juicing and more. So while you can expect a sanitary kitchen, it may have projects underway.
- We are in a wildness area. Wildlife is abundant. Large mammals, reptiles and insects are a part of natural Florida. Common sense and a quick briefing by us will help minimize risk.

The comfort of the lodge, coupled with Joseph's pleasant demeanor and the camaraderie of others, made for a few cozy nights of dinner and conversation for all of us seeking shelter from the hurricane. Thanks so much for your kindness.

Joseph's Place is secluded, peaceful, and very beautiful. We were there three days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is completely surrounded by vegitation (large trees and small gardens). It gave us the feeling of being nestled in a forrest. The house itself is very beautiful and spacious. Its architecture is spherical (not cubic); which we loved. The art in the house is very beautiful and matched the nature rich setting. Our room and every other room/area accecible to us (kitchen, bathroom, livingroom, mini gym, dinning area, porch,...) were always spotless and well kept. Joseph was an outstanding host. He is a calm, polite, helpful person, and exudes positive energy. We travel a lot and use Airbnb often. Our stay with Joseph rank very high (if not the outright best) out of all of Airbnb experiences. We can't say enough things about our experience. It was a fantastic experience which we would highly recommend to anyone.

Beautiful place, inside and out. I had a short stay and was sad I couldn't explore more! Bed was especially comfortable, and I slept very well both nights I was there.

Staying on Joseph's farm has been a great experience for me! I was drawn to his listing out of intrigue and curiosity about what it would be like living on a permaculture farm. I ended up staying for a month due to some work in the area and I felt right at home from the first night. I was really impressed with how accurate the pictures matched the listing and how clean it was. Throughout the month I have had the pleasure of getting to know everyone who stays regularly and some very interesting people as guests. The culture here is very open minded, kind and welcoming. They have fantastic dinners made from the freshest local ingredients, occasionally share wine around the table at dinners and always have great conversation going on. Many of the guests take turns cooking and the food is always great! Since I was here for work, the peace and quite has been great. I often have a lot of paperwork in the evenings and the communal living space has been great for that. I highly recommend Joseph's Farm for eco-tourists, permaculture enthusiasts and environmentally conscious travelers. I've learned lot about sustainability & life in central Florida. It's a bit off the beaten path in all the best ways. Thanks for everything Joseph!

We felt very welcome and comfortable as soon as we got there, Joseph and his housemates were very resourceful. The house is unique and well represented in the pictures. The house is a short drive from Gainsville's downtown and restaurants area. However it's very remote and integrated to the nature offering peace and quiet as expected.

I arrived an hour earlier than planned, but Joseph and his helpers were ready and happily got me settled in. I love the Florida country, full of wildlife and dense tropical forests, so I was thrilled to find this farm even more enticing than the photos and description. It is well off the beaten path, but only a 15-20 minute drive from my workshop in Gainesville. They prepared a healthy breakfast and dinner for me (happy to oblige my dietary requests), and we ate family-style with casual but stimulating, humorous conversations. They gave me plenty of personal space but made sure I was comfortable and had all the amenities listed in the description. I can't wait to go back. This is the perfect place for a traveler who loves good company, organic food, animals, farm life and the flavor of gracious communal living. I feel asleep to the lullabies of frogs and screech owls (misnamed: they sound like tiny, happy horses whinnying) and took late afternoon hikes in nearby state preserves. What a gem of a place to stay. Thanks for a magical experience.

As a professional photographer, I travel a bit for work. For many years, I owned and operated several commercial studios. But now, I focus mainly on fine art and nature photography.

I can enjoy and navigate my way through the Big City, but I live in a wonderful wilderness area, about 20 miles outside of Gainesville, Florida. I love camping, boating, diving, organic growing, fine art, good food and history.
