The apartment is in Astoria (Queens), which we found an excellent base for exploring NYC, as the subway (‘Broadway' station) is only a 5 minute walk away, and the train takes you to Manhattan in around 10 minutes. There are also lots of great places to eat nearby, the local area seemed safe, and the flat is quite secure (two locked front doors in addition to the apartment door).
Jenny and Loren were great. They were easy to communicate with and were really helpful in arranging pickup and collection of the keys. They also left very detailed written instructions in the apartment for during our stay.
The apartment is compact, but has everything one would need for a short or long stay. We stayed for 10 nights and found it very useful to have access to a kitchen during that time.
A few things to note: The bathroom is very small, it was fine for us, but a larger person might find this awkward. The bathroom was clean, but in need of a bit of TLC and maintenance (e.g. Re-grouting, removal of mould). The bed was extremely comfortably (memory foam I think), although the pillows were not as comfortable in comparison. It’s worth noting that the bedroom has windows onto the street. Due to the unseasonably warm December weather while we were there, we had to keep the windows open almost every night (yes really!). The apartment is close to a junction on a main road, so there is a lot of traffic and street noise, which is audible when the windows are closed, and very loud when the windows are open. We weren’t too bothered about this, but it would be a problem for any light sleepers.
Overall we had a comfortable stay here and would definitely recommend.
