Many things have changed in Bali since I visited 25 years ago. But one thing has not: the people are very friendly. Mr Putu Yasa is the host and caretaker and he treated us like his family. He lives 25 meters from the bungalow and made breakfast every day, and cooked dinner with fresh fish when we asked for it in advance. The leftover barracuda went in the freezer for a meal 2 days later. He took us to see the Dolphins and showed us the good place for snorkeling. His advice for where to eat, money changing, buying sarongs, and Balinese dancing was very helpful, and good value for the money. He arranged massage (1hr for 7euro), took me to buy quality snorkel equipment at a fixed price shop, took our young son fishing in the sunset where they caught 4 squid.
He also helped us with transport to Mt Batur, and the planning and tickets for the boat from Amed to Lombok. This was a great relief because We were concerned by many stories about serious problems reported by other travelers recently (eg on Trip Advisor). Putu said his brother / cousin would take care of us as he lived in Amed. :-)
About the lodgings: they are as described. The picture is what it looks like. 8 people can sleep comfortably in the 4 bedrooms (3 with AC) in the 3 double beds & 2 singles. With 2 flush toilets (European style) and 2 showers, the large open air kitchen and dining room, the large, clean swimming pool and 10a garden. We enjoyed relaxing many long and lazy hours in the 33C heat. Free coffee & tea ad lib, & cold drinks & bottled water for a reasonable cost.
Only one point in the description on AirB&B is not clear: "100 meters from the beach." This may be true - but to walk to the Sea of Bali, it takes about 10 minutes because you cannot go straight from the Bungalow to the water.
The electricity was only off one time for 20 minutes, in our 6 days there. So the AC & cold drinks were always available.
We had a connection with Lovina and the people here through Mr Putu - because he lives here and knows the people, the fishermen & markets, the prices, and what we tourists need. Here we saw no pristine beaches, but we learned how any why life is the way it is.
Our kids (9-17) liked the large pool with plenty of space to play and swim. Also the comfortable bedrooms, and the garden with beautiful plants and raised platforms ... Lovely!
The owner, Patrik, was a good man to do business with. Speaks English very well, and gave helpful options and information.
Easy to book - we got an answer straight away. Patrick gave us a positive response, and a good price. Definitely good value for money.
