The building is quite old and only moderately maintained but it hosts an eclectic variety of tenants who are warm & friendly. The apartment has the charm of a classic old-fashioned Vancouver residence. It is clean, lived in and very central.
The apartment has the charm of a classic old-fashioned Vancouver residence such as original hardwood flooring, claw foot tub, large single-pain windows, crown moulding, gas stove, antique decorative tile in the kitchen, etc. I have outfitted it with furniture/decor that reflects times past, and highlights the classic structural elements of the building. If your style is brand new, this is not the place for you. If you enjoy coming home to an environment that houses artists of all forms, has managed to exist under the radar of gentrification, and is just a step away from all the restaurants & shops of Main St -Mount Pleasant area then this is the accommodation for you. It's close to central bus routes that connect to all areas of the city, as well as a public library, not to mention it's a walk away from waterfront and city parks. I have the place professionally & deeply cleaned before I go and maintain a clean environment myself -BUT- the age of the building cannot be masked entirely. It's my home & not just a rental suite. It's a space that facilitates sound sleep, lazy Sunday's, dinner parties, quiet nights, creative bursts, and all the like.
I live in one of the few old character apartment buildings in Vancouver. It is really convenient and central, surrounded by great coffee shops, thrift stores and easy transit connections. I work in the arts and have been in my building for 5 years. There are a lot of artists and young people in the building, and everyone is very friendly and respectful.
I have my apartment professionally cleaned before and after guests stay.
