Refika is a lovely lady, and from our very first moments in Dubrovnik she made us feel exceedingly welcome. When she showed us the apartment we were not disappointed, the view from the balcony is BREATHTAKING, as we had expected from the pictures advertising the house.
Refika had also organised all our transport to and from the airport (and at a good price). Upon arrival she gave us some fantastic advise about the best places to go in the city, local cuisine, and history; which was very interesting and helpful.
The kitchen is well ecquipped for home cooking and very clean (as is the rest of the apartment), and the bathroom and bedroom are also well furnished including some useful leaflets and a local maps.
The balcony however, is where we spent most of our time when at Refika's apartment. It's a lovely space to eat, or to simply watch the bustle of the old town and of course, the sea surrounding Lokrum island.
There is also a remarkable amount of wildlife to see just from the balcony...swallowtail butterflies and swifts by day, bats and hummingbird hawk moths by the evening...not to mention the family of Mediterranean house geckos that can be seen just above the door most nights catching moths attracted by the outdoor light!
Another perk of the house is that is how close it is to the old town, it really is a 5 minute walk away which is extremely convenient.
One other thing to mention is Refika's little ginger kitten (we didn't know his name so we called him Peanut) - if you like cats you can let him in to the apartment if you wish; he's very playful and good natured, and loves a cuddle! He also made our stay in Dubrovnik lovely.
Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better host or place to stay; we already wish we could be back there, and intend to return some day! Refika's apartment is truly perfect, and highly recommended.
