19th Century building, with Gothic tower, set back from main road. House sub-divided, 35 mins walk, 15 mins bus from centre, 15 mins walk from sea. Large double room, shared bathroom, one floor up. Friendly dog Bonnie. Packages available for runners
This is a large double room on the first floor (one floor up) of a 19th Century stone villa (complete with Gothic tower). It is called Agra Lodge and was the German consulate until the First World War. The building was sub-divided in the 1920s and is now officially "listed" as a historic building. We occupy two upper storeys within it.
The room is spacious, it has a king-size double bed, table and chairs. There is a bay window and secondary glazing. The windows have working shutters.
Disponible para huéspedes
The property has one bathroom, with shower. Light continental breakfast will be provided. We have a good collection of books on Edinburgh and Scotland... I even wrote one or two of them. There is a garden at the rear of the house, where you might enjoy a glass of wine on a summer's evening (or even a game of table-tennis).
Atención a los huéspedes
I work at home, so am available to give advice on what to do, where to go and how to get there. My hobbies are running and pub quizzes - I would be happy for guests to join me in either activity, if our schedules allow. We could even work out a wee running tour of historic City Centre sites or along the shore. I right round the world last year, staying in airbnb accommodation where possible, so I have a good idea of what is most important to travelers. Brian

We are a short bus ride from the City Centre or a half-hour walk. It is a 20-minute walk from the bars and restaurants in Leith... and the Royal Yacht Britannia.
There are numerous big running races in Central Scotland, including the Edinburgh Marathon Festival in May, Dunoon half marathon in August - scenic, fast and flat, the Scottish half in September and the Great Scottish Run in early October. There are two free 5k Parkrun events in Edinburgh on Saturdays, including a very scenic, flat run along the shore, near Cramond Island. I do quite a few races and it may therefore be possible to arrange a special package with us that would include early pre-run breakfast and transport to and from the start and finish. Price would be dependent on distance. You would however need to arrange race entry yourself. If the dates you want are not yet open for booking, please message and ask.
No smoking, no wild parties, otherwise common sense and respect for what is our home.
