Gary's place was spacious, great Tv room, big bathroom, comfy bed, and lots of closet space with hangers! Very quiet neighborhood, about a 15 min walk to center of town.

Gary is a very friendly, helpful host and his home is very convenient to good restaurants. One can walk to a coffee shop and the neighborhood is very nice to walk around in.

Our friends from out of town stayed at the Hideaway. They were extremely pleased. They found the beds very comfortable.

Gary was very accommodating with information to guide us into the Hideaway, and the place lives up to his advance! We had our own base of operations, with separate and private entrances and living space, to launch our tour of Portland! We had the misfortune of rain every single day (which is common in these parts), but that didn't stop me from exploring the neighborhood on a short run the first day. I passed through Multnomah village, a quaint crossroads, and scouted our breakfast options at local grills and delis. I continued to Hillsboro, where I found a more commercialized center (and where I got lost!). Getting lost was no problem, because I had taken a map from the wide array of tourism info Gary provided us. We had rented a car because we wanted to get out of the city, but the nearest bus lines were within a quarter mile and would be easy for more laid-back tourists. The neighborhood is comfortable and residential, with a playground and a park within a block or two (even a disc frisbee course!). We were in town for the October Marathon, and the race start line was barely 20 minutes from the Hideaway. Getting in and out of the Hideaway was easy because Gary has a combination lock on the door, and he had set it especially for us so we could return at all hours (and leave in time for our 5 am flight)! Gary lives upstairs, but there's little noise between the two living spaces. Ah, if the weather had allowed us to sit out on the patio, under the shade of trees, and enjoy the clean, green environment. Even in the rain, we felt at home, and had plenty of room for two adults and our daughters. Fully "furnished," with plenty of clean sheets, towels, blanket, basic toiletries

Great stay at Gary's place - parking right outside, nice quiet neighborhood and secluded little place to spend a few days.

Gary made us feel very welcome, making sure to get in stay in touch the day of our arrival. he was really friendly without being intrusive. His "hideaway" was even better than its description - including some wonderful touches like having chocolates, fresh fruit, and bottled water waiting for us. We arrived during a heat wave and were most grateful for the air conditioning. The place was extremely comfortable, clean, and private (own entrance and patio). We had lived in this neighborhood for over twenty years and come back each year to visit old friends. Thanks to Gary's "hideaway", we really felt as if we had come home again. Barring the unforeseen, we b hope to be back next year!
