Large and beautiful countryhouse, in a picturesque village at the foot of the Dordogne river, in the heart of the "Périgord noir"
The “Wild Grass” is a large and beautiful country-house situated in the picturesque village of Cénac-et-St Julien, on the Dordogne’s riverside, in the heart of the « Périgord Noir ».
The house is situated at the foot of Domme, a gorgeous walled town with a unique panorama on the Dordogne valley. The medieval city of Sarlat-la-Canéda is 10km away, and the famous prehistoric caves of Lascaux just within a 40minute-drive. The area is rich in exceptional touristic sites such as Les Jardins de Marqueyssac, the Beynac impressive castle, etc. …
The Dordogne River flows at the foot of the village, and offers plenty of activities on its banks, like swimming or canoeing all along the « Castles Valley ». You can also do horse-trekking, tennis, golf, hiking, paint-ball or even make a hot-air balloon trip ! And if you prefer to stay home, you can always have a table-tennis contest…
Cénac-et-St-Julien is a very lively village offering a full range of shops and facilities such as cafés, restaurants, bakeries, an organic food shop, a little supermarket, a hairdresser, a post-office etc… as well as a lovely market held every Tuesday. You can also find a doctor’s office, with a nurse and a physiotherapist.
The ancient but completely renovated house is situated at the end of the village, on a hillside, and surrounded by vast grounds on different levels. The thick stone walls keep the house cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It has two terraces: one is facing west, with a view on the vast garden, and the other - facing east - is perfect to enjoy breakfasts in the sun.
