This quiet twin room (or double, if preferred) is one of our smallest but coziest rooms for two persons, situated on the 1st floor of the Writer's home. It comes of course with access to all the other common rooms and facilities of the comfy house.
With us at Tromsø Bed & Books you are at home while being away from home. We are a Bed & Breakfast WITHOUT the breakfast; we're an ever changing community of nice people; a house with comfy beds, quirky books, gorgeous wallpapers, a functional kitchen and a nice piano - in short a relaxing place to stay that more often that not also come with a handful of new friends. What's not to love!
Disponible para huéspedes
All guests in the house share a fully equipped kitchen, a cool dining room with a piano, a cosy library, a comfy TV lounge with a big sofa (no TV channels, but a DVD-player), a spacious hall and two newly refurbished bathrooms, both with shower and toilet. Not to forget the very nice garden!
Atención a los huéspedes
The one thing we love most about running a small guesthouse is meeting our guests in person. We strive to give everyone staying with us the best advice we can about the city, the mountains surrounding it, things to see and do, where to go and what to enjoy.
Otros aspectos destacables
This is a social, but friendly and quiet place. There will most likely be other guests in the house at the same time as you and you will share the common areas in the house with them. A perfect way to get some new friends with your rent - a real bargain we would say!
We're a small ever-changing community and we want everyone to stay with us to be happy. This means everyone staying here should be considerate of others - do not make a lot of noise at night, do your dishes, store your food in your designated shelves, keep your mess in your own room. Smoking indoors is strictly forbidden. To make our place friendly also to people with allergies we do not allow dogs or other pets. We also try to be as nice as we can to the planet, so please sort your garbage according to the instructions given, try keep your use of hot water within reasonable limits and leave perfectly eatable food (that you don't want to put in your luggage) for others to enjoy when you check out.
In short we live by the Law of Cardamom, from the brilliant children's book "When the robbers came to Cardamom Town" by the Norwegian author Torbjørn Egner:
You shall not bother others
You shall be both fair and kind
And whatever else you do I shall not mind

We're a small family-run guesthouse close to the Tromsø city centre. We're laidback, friendly, quirky, homely and quite frankly one-of-a-kind (just like you!). We love books, people, mountains, nature, culture, trees, coffee, art, music, film, poetry, seagulls and photography. There's a special place in our heart for quirky (preferably home-made) lamps, retro furniture and gorgeous wallpapers. When we're not chatting with our guests (hopefully you!) we love hiking, reading, dancing, writing, meeting new people, drinking coffee, chilling out in our garden, skiing, cooking, fishing and laughing. Our place is a result of many travels all around the world - we simply wanted to make the perfect place to stay that we ourselves were always looking for when on the road.
We do NOT serve breakfast, but you're welcome to cook your own in our fully equipped kitchen. This is also a nice way to get to know other travelers - we think there's nothing like sharing stories, travel tips and future plans over a home-cooked meal. There's a grocery store nearby, so you can shop whatever ingredients you want and save a good deal of pennies by cooking your own food (eating out in Norway is a sure way to make sure your wallet won't stay fat for long.)
We have run our place on a professional basis since 2011, and have experience with renting out rooms to tourists since 2008. Having traveled quite a bit ourselves we know what's important when on the road, and we take pride in giving our guests the best possible advice and insider tips on what to do and where to go when in the Paris of the North (as Tromsø is commonly called). We're here every day from 9-16 (9-13 in the weekends), and if you arrive in the evening you'll be given a special key code for the door and all the info you need on the house, how to get in, where to find things etc and we'll be excited to meet you in person the next morning.
This summer (2015) we'll also offer fishing trips with our small boat "Inna". The boat can take a maximum of 6 persons - it's availbale for everyone but our guests will get a special discounted price. So you can even catch your own dinner if you like! You can take home all the fish you get for free.
