This was our second time staying with Sarah and we hope to return next year. Clean, friendly, easy check in/check out. Loved the property and animals. If you are looking to get away and relax this is the perfect place.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Long Acres Alpaca Farm for the weekend and it was one of the best weekend trips that we've taken in a long time. It was just the two of us, but the house could easily accommodate a large family with several children. When we reserved the guest house we thought we'd have to go to the main farm to see the alpacas, but no, there are many right in front of the porch and we spent evenings and mornings sitting there relaxing and watching the alpacas. The house is stocked with a lot of local produce and breakfast material, and it was all delicious. I especially recommend a trip to Long Acre Alpaca Farm if you are interested in getting into the alpaca industry. Sarah had a very informative discussion with us about the ins and outs of how it works and helped us understand both the good and bad parts. I am sure we'll be back!

An absolutely amazing place to stay. The scenery is so beautiful and peaceful, with a porch and hammock to relax on, the house is spacious with a nice kitchen and grill and fire pit. Most of all, the tour of the farm was SO much fun. Sarah is so welcoming and taught us all sorts of things about the alpacas. Highly recommended!

After adopting our son (who is blind and has autism) one year ago, we were ready and excited to take a vacation to visit family and friends in Mercersburg. We booked Sarah’s guest house because of the beautiful scenery and secluded guest house - a necessity for us because of our son’s night terrors. Upon arrival, we met with Mike and later Sarah, who after we told the reason for our trip, informed us that we were welcome to have some friends and family back to the house. We had a wonderful trip, spending days out with our family and friends, and having one or two people to the house in the evenings for a few hours after our children went to bed or in the mornings for breakfast. It was on our journey home that we were blindsided by a text message from Sarah accusing us of having people sleep over at the guest house - an accusation so preposterous because the main reason we booked the house and did not stay with family was because of our son’s major and frequent night terrors. She also threatened to charge us for two additional nights because she was upset the bedding in one of the spare bedrooms was disheveled and according to Sarah, that was proof that we had someone extra spend the night. After we called her to discuss the reality of our stay over the phone instead of text messaging, Sarah informed us that she was upset that she had to change the bedsheets in all the beds because she was not expecting that based on a conversation we had about possibly having our son sleep in the pack n’ play we brought. She refused to hear our explanation, and although we are grateful that she conceded to not adding the extra charges to our stay, she would not relent on her accusations and inaccurate beliefs. Needless to say, we were caught completely off guard and were very offended by the wrongful accusations, threats of additional charges, and overall insults to our character. We were also concerned about the fact that if a bed doesn’t look disheveled, the bed sheets apparently do not get changed between visitors. In summary, the house and property are lovely. My only concern with regard to the home now is about the cleanliness of the sheets. If you book here, you may very well have a wonderful vacation, and I sincerely hope that you do. I write this review to only to let you know of our negative experience with the host afterward and the accusations and attack on our character we faced. We will not be staying here again.

Respuesta de Sarah:
Hi Blaine...I am sorry that you are so angry. I believe my past reviews from many other guests will speak for themselves. For clarification, yes guests are free to visit. I questioned you if guests had stayed over, for which I would have needed to create a charge through AirBnB.

Long Acres is lovely and well-equipped. Sarah went way above and beyond to help us set up for our daughters rehearsal dinner! I only wish we could have stayed to relax more. We plan to stay here whenever we visit Mercersburg!

Respuesta de Sarah:
Hi Kimberley....thank you for the feedback. One of the interesting aspects of renting this home is having people visit a farm and expect more of a resort. We actually cater to people more interested in farm style living. I believe in the future I will try to screen visitors better so that they have a better experience. As far as the flies, yes we were absolutely overwhelmed when we came to clean and saw all the flies. We have since decided not to allow any events at our farm. Thank you for the feedback!

The Guest House at LAAF is part of a second career for me. My first career was in medicine starting out as a "candy striper" (for those that remember) then a Critical Care Nurse and later Educator and eventually to a Nurse Practitioner in a busy health center for the underserved in our community. We bought a 160 acre farm in 2002 and started raising alpacas in 2005. I now manage the 120+ alpacas and farm and offer The Guest House for visitors to rent. None of which I consider work! We are a commercial alpaca farm with both a primary product (alpaca fiber) and a secondary product (alpaca meat) as well as alpaca sales to either breeding farms or fiber farms. Every day brings a new learning experience!
