Question: Can we walk to the Rose Bowl from this location? Answer: We're not conveniently "walkable" to the Rose Bowl but you'll achieve your objective nonetheless. We are in the residential zone which is gated during all Rose Bowl events. As such there is resident designated street parking behind the barricades that will allow you to leave the house by car travel 3 min to park and walk to the Rose Bowl event there and back. We provide a handy map and Resident pass for this. This will eliminate the crowds and the $40. Rose Bowl parking charge.
We're in the hills above the Pasadena Rose Bowl, close to the Pasadena Convention Center, HRC診所 and within walking distance to hiking trails overlooking JPL and La Cañada. As part of a four floor 1928 multi-million dollar gated estate the grounds on a clear day reveal a glimpse of the ocean in the distance. Within walking distance are hiking trails into the canyons. This Spanish Mediterranean estate was originally built by two women from Chicago in the roaring 20’s. The home is on the national register of historic places and is particularly noted for its rare collection of 1920‘s Batchelder tile. Mr. Batchelder was a famous maker of art tiles and leader of the American Arts and Crafts Movement as well as founder of the Pasadena Playhouse. The hand-made tiles while typically only found sparingly used around fireplaces abound in the Great Room of the home with an entire floor made of this rare and unique tile.
..::: As seen in the photos :::.. the home contains curiosities from around the globe. Visual delights are everywhere from a massive Indian “floating door” in the living room to Mughal empire inspired tapestry crafted of golden thread and semi-precious stones of Kashmiri origin. Ancient thrown pots from Israel sit atop intricately carved wooden columns surrounded by Brazilian antiques nestled within a 35 foot high cathedral ceiling. A 12th Century Cambodian Apsara the female spirit of the clouds and waters quietly bemuse our guests while Moroccan glow lanterns adorn Persian artifacts and antique tea pots on display. Have your morning tea or coffee outside on the veranda overlooking Los Angeles with a delightfully friendly but exotic Black Russian Terrier. This is a quiet serene place of reflection, rebirth and rejuvenation.
Items to note: This room has a "Jack & Jill" private bathroom with two access doors, accessible from either bedroom. (Please see the occupancy calendar for our other room listed as European Hide Away.) If both rooms are simultaneously booked it will be considered a shared bathroom. Generally this usually only ever happens during periods of peak demand (Rose Bowl Parade / January).

Atención a los huéspedes
We love all our guests and treat them as instant family. Our resident sleepy but large 110 lb Black Russian Terrier is always home but never will wander into your room or anywhere there are dark woods in the home. He loves children and guests of all age. He lives for a quick pat on the head before quietly sighing and nodding back off to sleep.

A NY transplant to the Los Angeles Area. I love to travel and have been to every continent excluding Antarctica. I have always enjoyed Asia and Africa particularly and most things just off the beaten path. Jorie & I love to host, meet new people and enjoy life in Pasadena (with a view of the ocean on a clear day)!
