All the information about the house is spot on. As we knew that there was no parking, we were well prepared to drop and go and park and there were never any problems finding somewhere nearby. The house is lovely, well set up for rentals, plenty of space and a perfect family retreat. As we have young children we found the brilliant nearby playground an amazing bonus. We walked down to Wonwell beach which was simply stunning. I expected it to be muddy when the tide was out but it was flat and sandy and clean. A perfect place for young children to play safely. The walk down took us about 25 minutes and back up was longer but my 5 year old and 8 year old managed it. Prob took about 45 -50 mins going back. But a lovely path through fields with view of Moors and then down through the woods. Visit to Bigbury on Sea and the sea tractor to Burgh island was fab. No apparent timetable for sea tractor just as and when hotel guests need. We went early and were able to go out and back quickly as pub didn't open till 12 so no toilets or anything open on island till then. Man running tractor did warn us though. Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Totness all in east reach. Massive tesco at Ivybridge. Driving instructions all very clear. The little road in really is very windy and thin. Nervous county drivers could go via Modbury and take road to Bigbury and then turn right to Kingston instead. All in all a fabulous stay. Thank you so much. Highly reccomnded.

We had a wonderful New Year 3 night stay at The Anchorage! The cottage is very quaint with a beach cottage feel, it is very spacious and comfortable, with lovely luxury linens and has a very cosy feel to it. We were a group of 3 adults and 2 kids (13 & 7) and we had plenty of room upstairs, with room for more! The 2 closest beaches are Wonwell Beach and Westcombe Beach, but they are at least an hours walk to get to and both downhill! Our kids managed it fine but little kids would have a hard time, especially on the way back and if you are carrying beach items, coolers etc. The cottage and location is absolutely ideal if you like to walk and hike the beautiful coastal path. The pub in the village, The Dolphin Inn serves good food and is very charming, it is a 5 minute walk away and this is where you would park your vehicle as there is no parking at the cottage. This aspect did not bother us and we just unloaded the car of our luggage on arrival and walked to and fro to the pub car park whenever we needed to use it. The other pub in the village of Ringmore, The Journey's End, is a must, a very ancient drinking hole and if you go, peek into the beautiful medieval All Hallows church. You can do a nice hike from Kingston, via Wonwell Beach, past Westcombe Beach to Ringmore for lunch at the pub. That would be about a 5 hour hike, but you will see the most spectacular coastal views and the dramatic rock formations on the way!! We loved The Anchorage and didn't want to leave!!

A fabulous stay. Beautiful cottage - cosy but definitely not cramped. I loved having a morning cup of tea in bed looking out at the fields. Great pub in village too. Can't wait to return. Thanks

We had a slight problem in that Patsy's email didn't arrive with the details for getting into the house, but all was sorted within a short while. We ended up having dinner at the local pub and were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Patsy was very friendly and helpful and we were delighted with the cottage itself. The location is very quiet, and the high-banked roads mean you don't see cars whenever you have a view. Difficult driving for large campervans though. The cottage is very spacious, very clean and homely, and has a jolly nautical theme. Well equipped kitchen, lots of board games. Had a fabulous day out at Bigbury-on-Sea, sunburn and swimming in the sea. Another great day out in Salcombe at the Overbeck mansion/museum. Such a brilliant place, can't say enough about it. It is quite a hike to the sea though, downhill, so you have the climb home again. Brilliant local shop in St Anne's Chapel - allsorts of goodies, and gluten free pasta! I strongly recommend the Fisherman's Cottage.
