In many respects we got what we were looking for here. A relatively quiet place outside of the city for a decent price. It was a pretty spacious basement apartment in a mostly quiet neighborhood, about 20-25 minute drive from the center of Quebec City. Not quite knowing what to expect walking into someone's furnished apartment there were a few improvements that could have made the stay excellent. The space had a bit of a paint smell that I'm sure would subside with time but upon arrival it was quite noticeable walking in the door. The photo of the living room isn't accurate in that the furniture is pushed toward the TV but upon arrival is further back toward the entry wall. Looks cozier in the photo and more stark in person. Small things like electric outlets missing their plate covers made it feel like we were staying at an apartment we moved into a few days before, just a bit unsettled. The last two things to mention are the Cable TV and Internet access. There was cable but of over 900 channels, maybe a few dozen were accessible, so winding down at night lacked that 'home' feel. There wasn't a DVD player so we had to get cables for my laptop to watch some DVD's we brought. We were told there was internet but upon arrival and contacting the owner, we were told the internet wifi 'normally just connects' which didn't happen as all signals were locked. No other help there with network name or password so that was disappointing. If you're looking for a place to stay where you pop in to sleep and shower and pop out, it's quite ideal. If you're looking for more of a home experience away from home, when traveling abroad for some length, you may look elsewhere at the moment. Though I trust the host will otherwise continue to improve upon accommodations for the future.
