First off, I want to make sure I represent this listing accurately so that others will understand what they are getting for their money. These are the residences of Seneca College. Being that they are largely empty over the summer the college (like others – I recently stayed in U of Montreal’s residences) has turned them into rentable units for travelers. As such they wind up being a blend of hotel/hostel/dorm that’s kind of unique. Like a hotel, there’s a reception desk that checks you in, supplied bedding and towels, TVs and phones in the rooms and a complimentary breakfast if you get up early enough for it. Like a hostel they seem to cater to students and young people on a budget, they had a nice game room for summer guests with ping pong and a pool table plus a bonus little convenience store where you could buy food and misc items. Like a dorm the units are very utilitarian versus comfy and decorated: there are desks and chairs and space to hang clothes, the beds are more long term durable than plush and soft and the kitchen only has a fridge and microwave. We were happy with the suite’s private bathroom in particular since we reserved a wheelchair accessible two bedroom version of the suite by contacting Harley in advance. Generally speaking we were happy with the accommodations because they met the needs of our wheelchair using traveler and the cost was very reasonable for a two bedroom plus private bath and kitchen. I must admit I don’t know how close the subway stop is, but it took us a long time to drive to downtown Toronto from the residence. We’d stay there again if we had a car, but would have to look into buses if the subway isn’t walking distance. The biggest problem we ran into was that the itinerary mailed to us had the wrong address on it. Apparently the 1750 Building D address is an administrative building which is essentially empty while 1760 – which we couldn’t find without help from a security guard – is where everything is. I would suggest to Harley (whom we never met, BTW, we just saw the staff that runs the place) or whoever is handling their Airbnb account to change the mailed itinerary for confirmed reservations to include both the proper address and explicit directions to the building. Advance help with parking would also be a bonus as the school was a maze of lots and construction the night we arrived. Overall a very good value for the money! We appreciated Harley being willing to do the extra work to reserve us a wheelchair accessible suite plus he was very accommodating when we had to make a late change to our reservation.
