I arrived a bit earlier than I anticipated and they were very accommodating. He showed me the accommodations and turned the heat on for me, gave me the keys, and wifi password, then left me to settle in. I later met the rest of the family as I was on my way out and they were all very nice.
It is a very comfortable 1 bedroom apartment on the top floor. It has a full kitchen and nice size bathroom.
The bedroom is spacious and has two beds. One is about queen size and the second one is a twin size. I slept on the Queen and it was pretty comfy with good pillows. There is plenty of storage in the bedroom for unpacking for an extended stay including a large wardrobe closet and a tall dresser of drawers. There is plenty of space in the bedroom to move around in. Just the bedroom is the size of a typical hotel room, but there is so much more to this place.
The bathroom is fairly moderate in size and it is pretty modern as well. It has a bath/shower, several cabinets for storage, stocked with nice towels, toiletries, and even the stuff you wouldn't expect, like tampons, some body mist, q-tips, and a blow drier.
The kitchen has a flattop stove, oven, microwave, water kettle, coffee maker, coffee, fridge, cutlery, dishes, pots and pans, spices, olive oil, vinegar, and some other things that made my stay easier.
There is a nice size dining room table in the dining area, a spacious living room, and a sweet balcony area to watch the sunsets. The tv is pretty large and is equipped with cable of some sort. It was an amazing place.
The location is fairly close to places in the town. There is a great Chinese place nearby for when you are tired of German food everyday. There is a salt spring called Franken-Therme about 2 miles away, and an open-air museum called Freilandmuseum about 3 miles in a different direction. There are catacombs in various places around the town that you can view from the street surface via windows to see beneath the level of the ground into the graves. The Town is about 45 minutes from Nuremberg to the east and a little over an hour from Würzburg to the west. It's also a 30 minute drive to Rothenburg, to the south west, which is the coolest city I've been to in Germany. Bad Windsheim is close to Illesheim and Storch Barracks for those of you who are looking to visit your service member and have all the conveniences you are used to at home. This is one of the best B&Bs I've stayed at during my travels. It is a way better value than a hotel. It has a better local feel to it and it is more affordable than a hotel room. I would definitely recommend staying to anyone interested in lodging in the area.
