This was mine and my parents first time visiting Barcelona and using Air Bnb so we were both a little anxious, but pleasantly surprised by the end of our 4 day stay!
When we arrived at the apartment we rang the bell a few times and there was no answer. We called Aida from the app and were let into the building. The apartment is shared with other travellers, we had to share the bathroom but had access to our own room. The room was basic, but clean with nice sheets and towels were provided. We had 3 sets of keys for our room, the building and the front door which made us feel safe. Aida was very welcoming despite not speaking much English. The shared bathroom was always clean and we only had to wait 5/10 minutes if somebody was occupying it. Downstairs to the apartment was also extra toilets. There was also sofas and a TV, on most nights we would find someone sat watching the TV which was comforting after coming in late.
We spent very little time in our room due to exploring the city, the location is not central but it is very close to the Magic Fountain of Montjuic and the Placa d'Espanya which is a must see and a Metro Station is within the square. Its a 5 minute walk down to the Fountain and Metro station which will take you where you want to go. The metro is fantastic in Barcelona, I think that as long as you are close to a station (which you are at Aidas) it does not matter if you are not central. There is also a nice bakery at the bottom of the apartment where we bought breakfast from and lots of mini shops for water etc.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Aida's apartment. The only negatives were there is no air con in the room, or electric fans so it was quite stuffy and difficult to sleep in at night. We did have a window which led out on to the shared balcony but I didn't feel 100% comfortable having it open all night when other guests could have gained access to our room. The shower is also not consistent with hot water, and on one morning it was completely cold. Checkout was at 11, we needed to leave at 10, and at 10 there was no-one available to take our keys. We looked around the apartment, called Aidas phone but there was no answer. We felt uncomfortable doing so, but had no option but to leave our keys and message Aida informing her where we had left them.
I would definitely recommend staying here if you are on a short stay to Barcelona and just need somewhere to sleep :) I would definitely stay here again!
