Lovely brand new/refurbished apartment on the edge of town, with large balcony area .
Plenty of space inside and out for at least four people, and more than enough for the two of us. The single bathroom is a bit small and could be a bottle neck for higher occupancies.
Large veranda is partly enclosed, providing shelter from the sun and wind and a good level of privacy despite being in a residential area. Views are towards the street and the hills, rather than seaward. It was nice to sit out day or night on the lounge chairs or eat al fresco at the dining table provided.
Aircon in every room was really important given how hot and humid it was during our stay. Plenty of hot water, good kitchen facilities and coffee makers. We were pleased to find basic foodstuffs and household consumables like coffee, cooking oil, salt, dishwasher tabs, etc. Also, shampoos, sun creams, etc in the bathroom.
Decor was very nice - modern, good quality and some nice paintings on the walls. Furnishing were a little sparse but more than adequate for our needs.
The area is very quiet with barely any traffic. Streets are wide with plenty of places to park; so less chance to get your hire car bumped into!
It's a ten minute walk to the seafront (beach, nice restaurants and bars, etc) and fifteen minutes to the harbour, steep downhill and a tough climb back on your return! Decent supermarket is five minute walk down the hill.
Cala Gonone is a small port and holiday resort. It's quite quiet and family oriented. There are plenty of different beaches nearby, accessible by boat or car but it would take a long time to explore further afield due to mountainous terrain.
