4*location, 2*accommodation - Hospitality lacking.
No drink offered, no welcomepack. We arrived as shops were closing for weekend, [found garageshop for basics, Carrefour and Lidl both closed all day Sunday]. He shook hands, smiled, waved his hand, said have a look around. Has a ‘no smoking’ policy [we don’t smoke] yet he smoked in our apt in front of us.
Mozi spray was supplied, &we were offered plugin device, but told to buy inserts, by time shops opened, we’d numerous mosquito bites, so we didn’t bother.
No hair dryer, Richard kindly found one following day. Extra pillow requested immediately found, that was good. Large wardrobe/hangers/Wifi excellent.
The place generally has low spec. feel to it, ie not good for price paid [dirty light switches/door handles/windows] terraces floors unswept, &moving tiles, etc.,] ‘make do and mend’ everywhere. Front windows small, black iron grids outside, with obscured view [directly opposite is multi level unfinished building]. Didn’t notice smoke detectors. Beds uncomfortable &had plastic mattress cover/base sheet/top sheet/cotton bed cover. I knew we’d be cold, so asked for blankets. He waved his hand at 2bags above wardrobe, said ‘duvets are there if you need them’. When I got them down later, a pile of dust came down. Unwashed covers on duvets, blood stains/unaired/musty. So I washed covers by hand, hung them outside for a day with duvets. He must have seen this, as he seemed to know about everything we did. Better for being cleaned/aired, not all blood stains came out though.
Both ceiling fans have broken pull, I had to stand on the bed to use pull.
No conventional oven, no grill, just a 4 ring butane hob. I don’t use microwaves, so was limited. Fixtures/fittings-sink taps scratchy, rust in shower, both drains kept blocking up. Hot water on demand was good, tho butane ran out the day we left so it lasted 2 people 6 nights [we had a night and 2 days away]. Towels great, a large pink&small white towel each.
Guests’ terrace is also owners’ exit route from his abode. First afternoon my husband was fast asleep on sunlounger. From inside I saw owner walk past bedroom window along terrace, so I went to find out why, I found he had woken up my husband from a deep sleep to ask a non urgent question about parking and said he ‘needed to speak to the driver’. Thoughtless. After that we used area round corner for privacy, but he still just appeared, and when we were eating our meal, intrusive. Ultimate insult for me was a shabby old dirty double cushion he offered, I didn’t ask for it, so it was a thoughtful gesture, but really it was grim. Consequently, relationships broke down very early, &we felt privacy was limited. Have other points but limited to 500 words. we spent night away&found Richard had entered apartment in our absence. There was no need for him to have done this. We respected his space, shame he didn’t do same for us.
