Couples Cabin in the woods built in 1939. Centrally located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. A Romantic place to be alone. Celebrate Anniversaries, Birthdays or Honeymoons We offer a place to Relax and Unplug. Close to Reno and Ski Resorts off Hwy 80. Three hour drive from the bay area, and 45 minutes from the Reno Nevada Airport.
Normally if there is no snow on the ground we can drive right up to the cabin. But in the winter we park in a parking lot and have to walk 5 minutes in to the cabin. It is not for the faint of heart and you must enjoy the adventure of being in the snow. No big hills mostly flat but the snow can be icy.
My grandfather built this cabin in 1939, his German background and his inventiveness resulted in some very unique and hand made items including the stairs that disappear into the ceiling. It is the perfect place to unplug and tune into nature and those with you. We do have a heater to keep the cabin warm, you can always burn wood in the fireplace if wanted. In the Spring you may have to take your conversations inside, because the river is so loud. There is plenty of fire wood to warm you in the evening in this beautiful granite fireplace. A gas fire pit, camp fire out back is perfect for relaxing with friends and family and making s'mores. There are some wonderful hiking trails to mountain lakes right out the front door. Fishing is possible in the early part of the summer, as the river tends to dry to a trickle in July and August. However, there is always great fishing in the Truckee River 20 minutes away or in Donner Lake 15 minutes away, or in Lake Tahoe 30 to 40 minutes away. Terrific dining at the Rainbow Lodge a few minutes away in Big Bend, or you can venture to Truckee in about 15 minutes or Tahoe City for a wide variety of good eateries. For extended nightlife activities Reno is about 45 minutes away. Our Cabin is small at a little over 1200 sq with two decks. There is a Queen bed and two twin beds in the upstair loft. The second bedroom has a twin trundle bed.

Great place and experience! The cabin is very cozy and clean, with lots of original vintage touches. We appreciated all the little details in the house, it made us feel like at home. Sandra was an incredibly attentive host to make our stay very comfortable and welcoming. She even left some beautiful retro-style toys for our 17 month little one to play, which she appreciated a lot! Absolutely beautiful location for nature lovers - you can hear a river right next to the cabin and enjoy the forest around! We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this cabin! It was exactly what we needed and definitely would stay again.

Fantastic in every way! Sandra and Ric were welcoming, accommodating and incredibly sweet! The cabin is cuter than the pictures make it out to be and Sandra's prompt replies and thoughtful touches to make our stay great was really appreciated. The hosts were warm and made us feel like family staying at their charming cabin. The deck is everything! The location is quiet, though not incredibly private. We'll be staying here again, for sure!

Hello,
We are a bay area couple who are proud parents of three and even more proud grandparents of 6 amazing grandchildren. We love the outdoors and forest living and decided to share our lovely 1939 cabin with couples looking for a retreat in the woods.
