Our stay at Carla's place was great. The location is beautiful and quiet, away from the hoards of turists. The apartment is comfortable and clean, as it appears in the photos. We were greeted by Carla's sister who was very kind and helpful.

Carla was great, she met us at the train station as soon as we arrived at Venice and showed us directly to our place. She gave us some great tips on what to see and do in our short time in the city as well as helping us figure out where we needed to be to meet our tour guide the next morning. The apartment itself couldn't have been better. Close enough to everything you might want to see while still being off the beaten path enough to be very quiet at night. Couldn't recommend this place more.

Carla's apartment is in the western part of the Dorsoduro district in Venice, which is a primarily residential and less touristy area. The nearby piazza, Santa Margherita, has no tour leaders with flags. Instead, we saw little girls playing skip-rope. The cafes and restaurants in the piazza cater as much or more to locals as to tourists. All this is a welcome change from the mass-tourism of places like St. Mark's Square. Getting to the apartment from the train station was an easy 15-minute walk with overhead-sized wheeled luggage. (Pack light for Venice!) Carla's sister Francesca met us near the train station and brought us to the apartment. Once you are there, it is a similarly short walk to the L'Academia bridge, your route to St Mark's Square and other main tourist sites. The first floor apartment is compact but completely satisfactory with a modern bath and fully equipped kitchen. It was quite comfortable for a couple; might be a little crowded for three people. The rear windows open onto a very shallow courtyard, giving ventilation and privacy. You will want to close the street-side shutters in the evening for privacy and noise control.

Carla handled everything to our complete satisfaction, from the time we made our booking and through the end of our stay. She met us at the train station and led us to the apartment which is only about a 10 minute walk from the station. The apartment is compact but comfortable and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The neighborhood is quiet, but only minutes from plenty of restaurants.

We really enjoyed our stay in Venice. Carla and Francesca were great hosts - very accommodating and friendly and the apartment was very well located and easily accessible from any direction. It was just as advertised, very clean and nice! I would not hesitate to stay there next time I visit Venice.

We had a wonderful stay in Ca' Magherita. Carla's sister Francesca met us at the bus station at Piazzele Roma and led us to the apt., even helping with our bags. She gave us a nice orientation to Venice, suggesting some places to visit and giving us a map with a few routes marked. The apartment was as described and pictured. Very clean, modern with new fixtures. The kitchen is small, but well-equipped. The bed is quite comfortable. It was easy for us to feel at home quickly. The wi-fi access is ok, (though sometimes a little spotty: the modem is in a upstairs apartment, and we sometimes had to move around a bit to reconnect) but we usually had very good internet access. The clothes washer worked fine. Noise from the school wasn't an issue: only some lively kids at the beginning and end of the school day. For us, the best thing about the apartment is the location. It's located in the Sistiere Dorsoduro, which is a much quieter, less touristic neighborhood than the areas around Piazza San Marco or the Rialto, where most tourists go. The walk from P. Roma was easy (about 10 minutes, with only 5 bridges to cross). From the apartment, we could walk to all the major sites we wanted to visit. We never used the vaporetti, and we saw a lot of interesting neighborhoods, shops and places of interest as we walked. The local square (Campo Santa Margharita) is near a university, and is a wonderful place to hang out and have a drink in the afternoon (you must have a spritz). There are food vendors' stalls and a grocery, as well as an excellent meat market, all in the area of the square. From the apt., we could walk to the Academia in about 15-20 minutes, and to the P. San Marco in about 30-40 minutes. Walking to the Rialto was about the same; perhaps 30 minutes or so. Recommendations: Two local restaurants (Pane, Vino e San Daniele less than 10 minutes away, and Osteria da Codroma, at the end of the street-about 250 feet away!) Both had excellent food and service. The grocery in C. Santa Margherita is adequate. For a slightly bigger supermarket, Conad City to the south on the Fondamenta Zattere al Ponte Longo, or an even bigger supermarket, the Coop near Piazzale Rome. For bread, pastries and a morning cappucino, find the Mejer. One in C. Santa Margherita and a better one on the way to P. Roma. All in all, we were very happy with this apartment. Communication with Carla was easy. We had no problems, and we enjoyed this neighborhood so much that we decided to return (but to another apartment as Carla's wasn't available). All in all, we recommend this rental highly and without any hesitation. Grazie mille Carla!
