I live in a beautiful 'old style' Japanese house. The mountains are behind me, Shimanto River is close and beside me are rice fields. Your area is spacious for two with tatami and wooden flooring. You will experience country Japan
Two adjoining tatami rooms will be yours to use during your stay. If you have more than four guests or if you want to use an extra room (maybe you want to banish the snorer to another space), this can also be arranged though there are some drawbacks with this. The kitchen and other facilities are available of course but it is a shared space. I have a large fridge also so you are welcome to put things in it so you can cook during your time here. (just a reminder that vegetarian/pescatarian cooking only) If you use Instagram look at the tag #ricefieldsriversandmountains I often post photos of what I see or do here in Kochi.

I have a front yard with lots of parking and a mountain behind me. If you would like to light a fire in the front yard. Let me know in advance. Inside the house you will have sole access to two tatami rooms. The toilet, bathroom and kitchen are all shared spaces.
Atención a los huéspedes
Sometimes I will not be here. I love camping and surfing so if the sun is shining and the surf is up then I am out! (I use the term 'surfing' very loosely, I can barely stand, but I love it). If I will not be present I will inform my guests in advance.
I have compiled a folder of local information and personal recommendations to help my guests. I am always happy to help in any way I can. You may need help here. The lack of English makes it difficult and secret local info can open up different possibilities for people.

Due to the traditional nature of where I live, it is a little difficult for me to accept single males. I am really sorry, however, single females and families and couples of any configuration are very welcome. My other rules are - cigarettes may be smoked but only in the middle of the rice field. Also, it's a pescatarian kitchen and no red wine on the tatami, particularly if I am drinking it. I love and respect this space so of course I would hope that you will do the same. I have a dog but I keep him very separate from my guests. If you are happy to deal with his over enthusiastic nature however, you are welcome to meet him but this is always best done in my presence.
I came to Japan years ago. Firstly I fell in love with Kochi and its people and environment, then I fell in love with my dog and then I fell in love with my now, husband. I have definitely found my 'happy place' here. I live in the most beautiful environment I have ever experienced and I want to share it. I consider myself to be extremely lucky and I want others to share my luck. My goals of eating and growing healthy food, exercising and socialising with interesting, inspiring people are met here on a daily basis. This area has a heart that I have not experienced elsewhere in Japan. Please come and allow Kochi to cast it's spell on you. You will never forget the beauty of the river, the ocean, the mountains and the people.
