I really enjoyed my stay at Sarah & Charlie's cabanas. The location and accommodation was great, within easy cycling (10 mins cycle) or walking distance to town. The accommodation was very clean and spacious. Was so peaceful at night lying in the hammock looking up at the stars with the burbling river in the background. There is a beautiful walk to a waterfall right from the cabanas. Sarah & Charlie are very friendly and have lots of information on the area. I would definitely stay there again.

Sarah's cabins are situated in a very quiet neighborhood in the middle of the can hear a sound of the river and enjoy a beautiful view all day long. There are some interesting hikes around but keep in mind Vilcabamba is pretty far and to get there is a nice 50-min hike already. Or you can take a taxi (3$) Sarah is very helpful to organize it.

Sarah and Charlie are very nice hosts. They have a little piece of paradise near Vilcabamba. The cabin is perched on a luscious mountain overlooking a dense forest and the beautiful Yambala river. They were generous in letting us use also the cabin next door as a living/dining room. There is an outdoor kitchen, sink and indoor shower with hot water. The view is breathtaking and the sound of the flowing river is just divine. We fell in love with the place and would love to go back.

Beautiful place in the woods. Sarah and Charlie were super helpful and friendly. A little far from town so it's good to bring some food. They have a nice kitchen with stove, fridge, and basic dishes. I'd definitely go back!

My girlfriend and I had a nice romantic stay overlooking the jungle. Our hosts were very accomodating, and fixed the internet quickly when it stopped working. the signal was surprisingly good for the location once they got it working!

If you want to be away from the city. If you want a lot of privacy. If you want to be in a very rustic setting with few luxuries and just be living in the woods, this is the place for you. Sarah and Charlie are very nice and helpful hosts who will help you with your needs. Do go into these cabanas knowing what you are in for. Bring food in with you on the first day. Be prepared because you are up on a mountain side. Beautiful views and comfortable cabins but also very rustic. The shower is always hot. If you are a low maintenance kind of person you will love it here it is truly stunning. If you need a lot of amenities this might not be the place for you.

There's not enough room to do justice to a description of the Cabanas Rio Yambala and our hosts, Sarah and Charlie. This gorgeous, tucked-away setting is exactly what we had hoped for. The tranquility, the scene, the atmosphere, all have a permanent place in my memories as one of the best adventures I've even done. The cabins were charming, rustic, clean and welcoming. They both come with double doors that open up to a balcony that sits out and among some of the most gorgeous surroundings on earth. The rush of the Yambala river just a stone's throw away provides a wonderfully soft and soothing background noise, especially at night. The beds were just right, not too hard or soft, the pillows equally so. The private, outdoor kitchen was well equipped with a refrigerator, dishes, sink, stove top and more. The bathroom was very clean, the shower very efficient- much hot water on demand! We quickly settled into a routine of walking the 45 minutes into town, exploring the downtown area, sometimes opting to check out the outlying areas, and occasionally, we'd treat ourselves to a short taxi ride back up the mountain (for $3 each way)... the local people of Vilcabamba are lovely and respectful, and do the best they can to help with any language gaps by using the occasional English word, hand gestures and body language to get a message across. Lastly, Sarah and Charlie are the consummate hosts. Their knowledge of the area is top notch. They'll help you sort out plans, give you tips, even give some history of the place. They've been in the area for decades! They are exceedingly attentive and go to great lengths to make sure their guests are comfortable and have everything they need. They are genuinely warm and caring people and I'm happy to have met them. We are definitely planning a return trip to Vilcabamba and the Cabanas Rio Yambala. If you want a unique, relaxing and enjoyable trip to, well, paradise, this spot is highly recommended.
