You'll find this camp exactly as it advertises itself- perfect esp. if you are looking for a lightly upgraded campsite. Everyone was nice, although don't expect reliable wifi (understandable given the location)! Easy to organize trekking to Lengai and Waterfall- highly recommend both.

We enjoyed our time in the camp. It is a good base for climbing the volcano - Ol Doinyi Lengai. The staff is very nice - always willing to help. We were able to organise quickly the climb or hikes to Lake Natron or nearby Waterfall. What was unexpected (but it is not direcly connected with the camp) are relativelly high fees of of getting to the camp and then being in the area. We went by bus from Arusha and we paid three times "entrance" fees to three districts - (10 + 10 + 15) USD per person just to get to the camp and then 20 USD per person for the ability to go "outside" the camp (payment to local community).

Absolutely perfect. We wanted to climb Ol Doinyo Lengai for as cheap as possible, so we got the bus up to Engaresero from Arusha. I was originally planning to find a guesthouse in the village, but I discovered Maasai Giraffe the night before we arrived. They replied instantly and really helpfully said we could leave our things at the camp on the night of the climb. Some Maasai were there to meet us at Natron Gate and they carried our bags to the camp, which is only about 500 meters away. We were met there by the manager, who did absolutely everything we could have asked: organised our climb for us, organised transport to the mountain, hired us some walking poles (which turned out to be essential), had a guide meet us at the camp to brief us about the climb, and even booked our seats for the bus back to Arusha (we would've had to stand otherwise!). The camp itself has great facilities, clean toilets and showers. They provide really great meals for $10 each and you can buy refreshments too. There is also wifi (which is pretty miraculous, given the location). The best thing is how peaceful it is- it's only an hours walk from Lake Natron (you can go with a guide) and visitor numbers are low to reduce the impact on the environment. It's one of the most relaxing places I've been. Maasai Giraffe is the perfect base for all the many activities in the Engaresero area- they coordinate with the CBO in the village which provides routes and guides. You could easily spend a week in the area and the staff at Maasai Giraffe would make the stay a pleasure.

Que dire sur ce lieu ? Majestueux !
