Daniel's place was exactly as described and perfect for our stay in Manuel Antonio. The outdoor bathroom definitely gives you the in-nature experience. The kitchen was simply equipped but we had everything we needed to cook a number of meals at home and we loved eating on the front porch and checking out the wildlife! The house gets perfect ventilation and with the provided fans we were nice and cool at night. Daniel provided earplugs but we didn't use them because we ended up really enjoying the sounds of nature! Finally, the compound feels very safe and is in a great location. I would recommend Daniel's place!

Good things about the house/property: The sounds of nature are amazing and plentiful and you wake up and go to sleep to these sounds which is amazing. The house is in a secure neighborhood that is visited regularly by monkeys, scarlet macaws, sloths and other beautiful wildlife. It is very walkable to local transport and buses as well as restaurants and other amenities. The house is in a secure compound with an electric gate and on site security, so it is a very safe location. The host is very quick to respond and very eager to help and remedy problems that arise. He even offered me a free massage for our trouble at the house which was really kind and when we had to leave he even had another property that he offered for us to stay in. Opportunities for growth for Daniel's house: There is no laundry access given by the host on site and laundry is quite expensive (one load was $30 for us), so this is not a good choice for families on that end as people with kids know, they really go through the laundry. There is a little laundry shelter across from the house on the compound that the landowner said this house was supposed to have access to but the washer in there was broken. I think it would be good for the host to make this laundry room accessible and workable for guests. Also, the house itself is in pretty poor condition and is basic rudimentary construction, screens on the windows are torn or falling apart, so essentially you are staying in a completely open air place and it felt very dirty even after being cleaned. It would be more accurate to call this a camp house because you are essentially camping here. Because of the broken screens, stray cats would occasionally enter the house and the house had an insect problem and a pest problem which eventually caused us to have to leave the house and find other accommodations. This is not a toddler friendly home with several dangerous drop-offs within the home. This is just the layout of the house, not necessarily something the host can change or should change, just something the host should mention in the listing. The neighbors within the compound are really nice except for the house at the front gate which has a guard dog that barks incessantly day and night. Also the neighbors beside the compound play rap music very loudly day and night, so this is not an ideal place for kids getting sleep. Bring ear plugs if you want to sleep without noise.

Such a cute home! The country itself was out of my element, but our stay here made me feel like a tico #native! Our host Ariane was nice enough to borrow a vitamix so that my bf and I could make smoothies! She was very sweet and helpful when needed! The shower was so perfect during rain or shine. This is the perfect house to live pura vida :)

My girl friend and I loved staying here! Check-in was very smooth and super easy; we had arranged our arrival time in advance, but ended up getting to town early. We were fine hanging out at a nearby restaurant until our time, but Ariane the house manager ended up being available earlier and let us into the gate. The house felt very private and secluded, but it was still very easy to visit Manuel Antonio park, the beach, and nearby restaurants and bars (we didn't use our car once the four days we were there). We loved eating breakfast on the patio enjoying the birds and the monkeys, and the outdoor shower was amazing. It was the perfect way to wind down our time in Costa Rica.

Very close to the bus and taxis and around a 10 minute walk to bars and restaurants, which was great, although the area does not have many sidewalks. Communication with Daniel and Ariane was great and arrival was easy. The house was quaint and had all basic necessities, and after contacting Ariane to get some more kitchen supplies, we had them by the end of the same day, though it would have been nice to have them the first night. Overall, the house was great and in a safe community, and we enjoyed our stay.
