El lugar

The school was built in 1912 and was used as a school until 1960. Grades first through eighth were all together in this one room, approximately fifteen total. The people who settled in this area were Welsh, from Wales. The first teacher at the school was Eulalia Richards and she received as little as forty dollars a month to teach. The surrounding children REALLY did walk two to three miles to get here.

Disponible para huéspedes

Hubby-made treehouse and local artist made limestone fire pit.

There is a FULL ( coffee grinder, coffee pot, pans) working kitchen that should meet all your needs. However, if there are specifics that you are not sure if we have up there, please ask ahead of time. There is also a small grill in the shed (Smokey Joe) though you'll need the coals.

There is no television but there is a portable DVD player and a small film library available. Most renters bring their own laptops.

PLEASE try to give me at least a week of notice to reserve as I have to make arrangements with a cleaning lady to flip the house, etc.

And though we are not renting it daily through the Winter months (January- February) we are open to longer term stays throughout it (a week minimum), please message me to discuss.

We prefer to rent to four people and under.

We had a lovely time celebrating our son's 8th birthday in this beautifully finished school house. It was an unplugged weekend with fires & games, playing school, watch for deer from the treehouse, laying in the hammock & riding on the tire swing for hours. The kitchen was a lovely place to cook & we all enjoyed the openness of the space. I would highly recommend this for a family get away.

The school house is as wonderful as the pictures make it look. Everything you need for a wonderful Wisconsin weekend. We spent the long, Labor Day weekend discovering Mineral Point, House on the Rock and Effigy Mounds National Monument which are all within short range. We didn't get to laze about in the hammock too much but we did use the fire pit on a cool evening to make s'mores and they had plenty of games and puzzles for late night fun. I really can't stress enough how perfect this place was.

To get to the house, you will drive through rolling hills with panoramic vistas - it's stunning! The house is an adorable red, much bigger on the inside than it appears on the outside and is shaded by walnut and oak trees. Inside is a capacious room with a fully equipped modern kitchen. Beautifully restored, it has plenty of original charm yet it's thoroughly modern, comfortable and remote. Perfect for unplugging. There isn't a TV, but that's the point. We brought books, sketching tablets & water colors. Simply wonderful.

The place is perfect for the retreat we were looking for. The schoolhouse is beautifully and simply decorated which adds to the serene feeling of the landscape and location. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed to bake and cook, the beds were so comfortable and everything was super clean. The yard with a tree house, hammock and fire pit added to our relaxation. The schoolhouse is absolute perfection!

Truly the perfect Wisconsin getaway. Rolling farmland hills, a magic summer sea of lightning bugs, incredibly kind neighbors & cute farm critters - the list goes on and on and ON! A real place to disconnect and get inspired. Cannot recommend enough!

This place was truly special! The schoolhouse is bright, clean, and modern, located in a secluded wooded setting. My kids enjoyed the tree house and tire swing, and I enjoyed the peace and quiet. We packed some games to play in case of rain, but we were surprised to see a fully stocked game and book cabinet, along with an adorable wooden doll house (which my both my son and daughter loved). This was the perfect place to unwind, unplug, and relax - we will be back!

This home is the perfect space to relax and get connected to the things that really matter. The quiet location, beautiful home, and attention to detail provided a perfect backdrop to an unexpectedly rainy weekend. The pigs next door were joy, downtown Mineral Point was a treat, and next time - we will hit the bike trails! Thanks again!
