A quiet and private room with your own private bath in the most unique and spectacular house you will ever see. Your bedroom is on the secluded second floor. Lots of privacy. Ample on-site parking. Close to Hollywood, downtown LA, Occidental College. Views abound from both inside and the large garden. You will have access to the kitchen just as there are many great places outside to enjoy. Breakfast included. The movie “Good Will Hunting” was written in this home!
Here's what makes our place special: 1) The unique architect-designed house and garden! Search "Egasse" in Atlas Obscura. 2) Your own spacious bath with plenty of towels and luxury toiletries. 3) You have the entire second floor essentially to yourself. 4) Breakfast included (let us know of any dietary restrictions) 5) Astounding views from house and yard.
This is a historic house from 1923 where film stars and local entrepreneurs have lived. The architect grew up in Paris and the original owners were of Austrian heritage. They wanted something that reminded them of Europe. The pictures speak for themselves, but reality is better. The house is locally known as the "Good Will Hunting House" due to the now famous authors/actors who worked on their manuscript while staying here. The house could easily be a destination in itself!
Details: You will be staying on the second floor of a famous, historically registered house. Inside your room, you have your own large closet and some space in a cabinet. Our home office is also upstairs, but we are rarely upstairs in the evenings and almost never at night.
The bed is a beautiful antique art-deco style full-size wooden bed with a high quality modern mattress. The footboard is lower than the mattress, so your feet can stick out if need be.
The room has four windows on three sides with great light. You can open several windows for plenty of fresh air. Nights in Los Angeles are usually cool, even during hot summer months, but while in the room feel free to use your whisper-quiet air-conditioning and heating system, which is fully controlled by your own remote control and thermostat.
Besides the comfortable bed, your room has a comfortable chair and a luggage rack for you to use. Your room has its own 32" HD LCD TV with Roku/Netflix streaming services. We cut the cable in Spring 2016, but our TV antenna does pick up many stations, but sometimes loses signal behind a hill.
Your private bathroom with shower is only a few steps from your room. We stock the bathroom with plenty of soap, shampoo, conditioner and toilet paper.
We offer a welcome drink of wine (please do not drink and drive) or a nice beer. A granola/cereal or toast breakfast with coffee or juice is also included each morning so you can start your day fresh and ready to go.
There are plenty of spots in the large garden (1/2 acre) where you can relax or get work done without anyone bothering you. Your room has a lot of windows that make it feel like you are living in the trees, yet you have a fantastic view.
We hope that you will fully enjoy your stay in our special space.
Disponible para huéspedes
We have a coffee machine, teapot, glasses and silverware that you can use. You have access to the kitchen that you can use with food that you bring or for cooking, if you wish (as long as you clean up after yourselves). Please air out the kitchen after use. We love cooking, so the kitchen is very well equipped. If you stay more than three nights, you will get a shelf in the refrigerator, but please seal items from possible smells.
Access to 1/2 acre private garden with upscale garden furniture in sunny and shady locations both. The front garden offers spectacular views.
Unthrottled WiFi access connected to Spectrum high-speed Internet is included.
Atención a los huéspedes
We live in the house on the first floor, but respect your privacy and peace. We can help with planning your trip, etc. if you want us to or leave you alone if you prefer that. We'd love to give you a quick tour and history of the house if you feel like that, but otherwise, just take it in as much or as little as you wish. We are very quiet.
Otros aspectos destacables
We are Diverse/LGBT friendly, and so is the neighborhood.
We will gladly have your children aged 15 or older stay either just with you or on a high-quality, modern air mattress (automatic pump, tall) in a nice studio room upstairs next to yours. The house and property is 'dangerous' to small children because of many steps, rough open railings, etc. For this reason, sorry, no small children - no exceptions.
Above all: Please make sure that the doors to the outside are closed all the way and locked when you leave! It's a very nice and exclusive neighborhood, but it is still unsettling to come home to doors standing open and/or being unlocked! Please make really sure that the front door is CLOSED ALL THE WAY and locked when you leave. This only takes seconds. The front door lock needs to "click" into place - just check that it does not open once you have locked it, then it's locked.
Close the driveway gate after entering and exiting. When you check in, you'll get the automatic gate opener.
Please use coasters for your hot and cold drinks as we have a lot of wood furniture.
Use the air conditioner/heater in your room as much as you want. All we ask is that you please turn the a/c off when not in the room. Your room also has multiple windows for easy cooling most times of the year.
Please do not dry out wet clothes and towels on our furniture and/or doors! We have a lot of old, historical wood that is not easily replaced. Please use the ample space on the drying racks in the bathroom, or on the outdoor clothesline.
No children younger than 10 or pets.
