Fabulous views from a nice apartment in a lovely building in a great neighborhood almost made up for the slow, metered internet and mold above the bathroom ceiling. It's a great place to cook, eat and sleep, but - for a month's stay - I didn't find it a very comfortable place to …

While we appreciate Rebecca's positive comments on our apartment, we are somewhat puzzled by some of her other observations. First of all, if being dropped off from a taxi half- a- block away from our building was such a trial, then traveling to any so-called Third World country must be a terrible strain for her. Perhaps it was not especially convenient for a friend and the building's guardian to meet her and help her with her luggage at such a late hour but they did so. Our street is a short one-way and many taxi drivers are not familiar with it. Since everyone knows Clinique Chifa, we gave Rebecca that landmark as a meeting place, right around the corner from our apartment, not even half-a-block. Rebecca was the 4th back-to-back guest in the apartment over a period of several months and only one other person ever mentioned the small leak above the bathroom shower which comes from the terrace above during or after a substantial rainfall and which the neighbor above has promised to remedy on his next visit from France. A small problem, unfortunately beyond our control and not a situation of neglect on our part. Neither we nor any of our guests have ever noticed any smell of mold anywhere in the apartment and one of us is asthmatic at that. As for T.V. and microwave, they were never listed as amenities and would-be guests who cannot do without them have refrained from renting the apartment. Internet connections and service all over Morocco can be irritatingly slow. Most guide books will probably tell you this as you plan your visit in advance. As for the three chairs in the apartment (plus two on the terrace)... if one is too high for the dining table and the one in the bedroom is too low, could Rebecca not have tried switching them? Our small but unique apartment has been described as "a Jewel in the Heart of Marrakech"... hard sofa, problem chairs (1930s French bistro "chaises") and an occasional drip to boot. Marrakech is a fabulous destination and we do hope that Rebecca's memories of it will slowly dispel the more negative views she has voiced about the apartment. Just as we hope that somehow she will have managed to notice and enjoy the birds of paradise.

A Canadian citizen, I have a longtime connection with Morocco through numerous visits and extended stays between 1979 and 1999 at which time I decided to settle here permanently.
