If you are going to be anywhere within an hour of the house, you HAVE to stay here. The mansion is AMAZING, there's a ton of land around it and on it. We were able to run 6 miles pretty much on the property through the paths that connect to it, the driveway is so picturesque and the fact that the house was built in 1605 makes it even cooler. There are so many rooms and beds, the heaters work great. Sunrise and sunset is great to see from there. There are plenty of showers and bathrooms and a really cool bathtub upstairs. If you have a large group, definitely stay at Michael's place. The little towns nearby are also really charming as well.

My four friends and I stayed the night at Agahboe house and found it to be rusticity charming and felt like we were staying at the Bennett house from Pride and Prejudice. If you're looking for an authentic historical home this is the place for you! Michael was there but kept to himself. The caretaker Rod was super helpful and sweet and took the time to show us around the house. He also talked to us in the morning and told us where we should visit and get lunch around town.

The house was off the main road and we almost passed the entrance to the driveway. Once we got there, we were kindly greeted by Rod who gave us a tour of the house and showed us to our room. The house is spacious and while keeping many of the period aspects it also has most modern amenities as well. We had a great stay and would recommend this to anyone visiting Ireland and want a first hand feel to some of its history.

Michael was away but great arrangements were made with Rod, to meet us. He was very kind and welcoming. He took so much time to show how everything worked and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much.

We stayed for 2 weeks in July. Beautiful, quiet rural setting, ideal location for visiting the midlands. Comfortable beds. Michael is a wonderful host and nothing is too much trouble for him - for instance, he went straight out and bought an iron and ironing board for us. Aghaboe House is a charming, large, quirky 17th & 18th century house - 'faded grandeur' might describe it. We were sad to have to give a lower score for cleanliness, but it really did need a thorough clean. We could only open a couple of windows, as the others were sealed, so we were unable to get a good amount of fresh air circulating.

Respuesta de Michael:
Carol Sorry you were not satisfied. With 8 chimneys dust is likely although never had a complaint about that. Will try to do better. Not all windows open as with cattle and flies it is usually better not to open lpower windows. There were several other windows (at top of stairs, etc...) that open if you had asked. When that window and kitchen door is open a wind tunnel effect is achieved and chimneys also join in and both cool and air the house well. Again, sorry for the inconvenience. Mike

Rod was fantastic with the B PERFECT TEAM, making them feel very welcome, lighting the fires for them coming, giving them directions to a show they were attending and concerned when they had not turned up on time. Thanks Rod See you next year B PERFECT GIRLS LEE-ANN, JAN, NICOLE AND AMY
