We were very pleased to have picked Kefalonia cottage for our first visit to Kefalonia. It has a great location, with local shops and restaurants nearby (a few minutes walk), and several car and morotbike rental shops also a few minutes away. The place was fresh and spacious with a lovely view from the upstairs bedroom balconies to the sea. Everything we needed was provided (with perhaps just one exception of a collander for draining pasta!). Vangelis (the owner) and Gini (his daughter) were both really helpful in arranging everything and answering any questions we had beforehand and whilst we were there. Getting a lift from the airport from Vangelis was great. Loudes beach was moderately busy when we went (late Aug/early Sept) but quite pleasant, with plenty of places to eat, and good swimming opportunities. It is 20 mins or so walk away, down a hill, and a bit longer on the way back, depending on how you manage the hill up! (we were fine, but some people prefer to catch the regular shuttle bus on the way back as the hill is quite steep). Trapezeki beach (also on the shuttle bus route) was nice, and a bit quieter, and can be reached by walking all the way along from Lourdes, or taking the road along the top. It is 40 mins or so on the road form the house. Kanali beach half way between Lourdes and Trapezeki can be reached by a track down from the road. This was our favourite, as it was quieter and great for swimming, but take supplies as the food/shops are a short walk away. We did a good few long day-walks (20km or so) from the house, one to a castle, and one to a monastery. We also caught the handy bus to Argostoli one day, which left from the road at the top (just walk up the hill from the house and turn left along to the bus stop opposite the garage). The small shuttle bus came around 9am and got to Argostoli just before half 9. A larger coach returns at 2.30pm. This allowed time to have breakfast, explore Argostoli on foot, visit the memorial monument to the Italian soldiers, and spot the turtles who swim around the fishing boats. You will see volunteers from Wild Sense spotting the turtles, if you have more interest in season to get involved with the hatching process on the local beaches then check out their (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) page and it will be kept up to date with times, dates and locations. Mount Ainos was closed due to fires so we didn’t trek up there as planned. You probably need a car to do that, as it would be a very long walk all the way from Vlachata. All in all Kefalonia cottage a great little gem of a place in a not too touristy location, compared to other spots on the island. Oh yes, look out for the small bar run by a Welshman...

Staying at Kefalonia Cottage was a super experience from start to finish. There was excellent communication from Georgia throughout, and it was great to meet other members of her family. We were very grateful to have a lift from Georgia's father to and from the airport. I stayed with my two kids and felt it was a great (and safe) location with many amenities like the mini market, bus stop ( to the Lourdas and Trepezaki beach) swimming pools and many restaurants within just a few minutes walking distance. It's in a very peaceful setting with views across to Zante from the upper balconies. The kitchen is fully equipped which was very useful travelling with kids as they didn't want to eat out every night. And there was even some juice and wine waiting in the fridge when we arrived. Everything was spotless and clean, including the washing machine (again very handy with kids) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kefalonia and hope to return next year. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Georgia was very helpful when we were trying to book and made us feel so welcome before our arrival. We arrived in Kefalonia by boat and her father went out of his way to meet us and take us to the cottage, the garden is so beautiful and their little Church is quite amazing! The cottage is very well kept and equipped with everything you could ask for. As my wife Anna speaks fluent Greek, we were able to chat to the other me members of the family staying in the other cottages and who also made us feel very welcome. It is a special place with great views of the bay and a short drive to the beach. The area has a wonderful valley with lush gardens and reminded us another special place in Corfu that we love to go to. Thank you for making our holiday stay so fantastic.

Hello, I am Gina. I have studied music at Brunel University and I am currently working as an English teacher and as a UK Higher Education Consultant. I move between Greece and England. I speak fluently Greek, English and Italian.

I discovered AirBnB when I travelled to Rome and used it. I got so impressed by the personalised experience, that I immediately wanted to become part of the project as a host as well.

I am renting here a lovely cottage with breathtaking sea view which we own on Kefalonia Island. I co-host along with my father, Vangelis. He lives in Kefalonia, he is a true local and he can tell you everything about the island. He is a doctor and he also speaks fluently Italian.
