El alojamiento
River's Reach is the sole holiday-let at North Hooe Farm which, while not a fully working farm, is home to sheep at pasture. The farm comprises 30 acres of fields, woodland, reedbeds and saltmarsh along the bank of the River Tamar.

River's Reach is a stylish barn conversion with 2 double bedrooms accommodating 4 adults (with space for baby in carry cot) offering reverse level living over 2 floors to make the most of the river views.

Once a huge hayloft, the open-plan living area supported by oak A frames, is light and airy with pale beech floors and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Here you will discover a well-equipped kitchen with integrated appliances including washer/dryer and dishwasher and a free standing American-style fridge freezer facing the glass dining table and chairs in the central area. The sitting area with comfy sofas and glass coffee tables, accompanying wood-burner and wide screen television occupies the far end and opens onto to the secluded roof terrace. Step onto the terrace beneath the vine-covered pergola for an al fresco meal, soak up the sun or cool off under the table’s umbrella.

Next to the living room on the upstairs landing you’ll find a double bedroom with view of the river from the bed and en-suite shower room and WC etc.
Downstairs off the hall (with hanging and shoe space), the second bedroom with wardrobe and underfloor heating overlooks the paddock. Next door you’ll find the family wet room with rain shower and hand-set to warm you up after time on the river.

The spacious games room (beneath the living room) has a separate entrance. Limber up with a game of table tennis, wind down with darts or chill out on the numerous sofas.

Heating of the property is via convector heaters and large wood-burner upstairs and underfloor heating , convector heaters downstairs and oil filled radiators in the Games room. Water is filtered from our borehole and sewage is dealt with by a septic tank. N.B. In the coldest months of the year prospective guests should be aware that the high ceilings in the living area (only) tend to draw the warm air upwards.

Dónde vas a estar

Bere Alston, Inglaterra, Reino Unido

Set in the Tamar Valley AONB, SSSI and UNESCO World Heritage for Mining area the farm sits on the western bank of the little known Bere Peninsula, a hidden enclave between the Tavy and Tamar rivers. Once the hub of the noise and bustle of the copper, tin, and silver/lead mining industries the Tamar has reverted to being a peaceful and beautiful backwater whose scenery is much admired.

The long, narrow lane to the farm may make it feel remote but it is only one and three quarter miles to the village of Bere Alston with its train station and variety of shops including 2 small supermarkets, corner store, pharmacy, 2 cafes, take-away, post-office, hairdresser’s, and even a butcher, a baker, though sadly these days in terms of the song, no candlestick maker!

Slightly off the beaten track we may be, but from top of our hill down the estuary you can make out the outline of the “ocean city” of Plymouth with its impressive coastal topography and diverse attractions. In the opposite direction a short drive takes you to the historic Stannary town of Tavistock, several National Trust properties and the vast, wild stretches of moorland that is Dartmoor.

Being on the Devon/Cornwall border you are in a great position to explore both counties and the north and south coasts.
