We stayed 9 days in Antonis' house and it was perfect! The terrace offers a fantastic sea view and we can even hear the sea. The house is beautiful and we found everything we needed. Comfort and simplicity at its best. If you seek a bit of quiet but the convenience of the Old Town nearby and a beach that is within walking distance this house is perfect: Close enough to walk up / down hill but far enough away for holiday solitude. We would definitely visit again!
We enjoyed our stay in the island very much! The house is really nice. Even better than in the pictures! The equipment is essential but you can definitely find all you need for a nice stay. The house is cold even when the weather is really hot. We found it really clean at our arrival. The terrace and the view are amazing and the sky when there is no moon is really impressive!! Even if the road to the house is unpaved, if you have either a car or a quad there are no problems. Moreover, the house is few minutes from the old village. Therefore, we could say that the position is perfect: isolated and quiet but very close to the village! Antonis and his fiend Yiorgos, who welcomed us at our arrival, are really kind and helpful. We also found some presents in the house when we arrived, made from some specialities of the island! We appreciated a lot! Finally, there was a small red cat who became our good friend and we spent some nights together on the terrace, looking at the sea! We will stay at Antonis house for sure if we will come back to Alonissos another time!
As you can see from other reviewers, this really is a remarkable little house. It's perched half-way down a beautiful descent to the sea from the Old Town, on a road with only a couple of other houses. The quality of the air, the fullness of space standing outside on the stone terrace, were pretty incomparable. The house faces the north side of the island, a favorable spot in the summer months particularly due to the steady cooling Meltemi wind. The house is simple, uncomplicated, but finely built and cool inside in the midday heat. The beds were comfortable. Antonis included some lovely gifts for us when we arrived. The lack of Wi-Fi was a lovely facet, really -- but if you have a COSMOTE sim card in your phone the reception was fine for handling bandwidth. You really do need a car or a quad bike to go up and down the dirt road from Old Town...especially if you have small children. Maybe a bicycle would have been fine though. We ended up being grateful for the car rental because most days we drove to Chrismilia, a beach 10 minutes away which is objectively the finest on the island. Coming from the USA we were not used to driving stick shift, but driving on Alonissos was easy and uncrowded. What else is there to say? This is the best kind of AIRBNB. The surroundings provide an experience unlike any B&B or hotel. If you want to find some quiet and some spaciousness to breathe, practice yoga, and just listen to yourself...you can't go wrong with this rental.
We had a fantastic holiday at Antonis's house. It is in a fantastic setting and is a well equipped house which is tastefully decorated. It is very quiet, you can hear the waves lapping at the shore and the stars are amazing! We split our time between the house and the beach, but not the beach nearest the house. Because we had a few days of unsettled weather a lot of rubbish washed up on the beach - but its secluded and takes about 20 mins to walk down to. The house is lovely and cool even in the hottest part of the day. The host had left some little surprises in the fridge which was lovely. We arrived at Alonissos by ferry into Patitiri. There are lots of taxis available and the journey to the Old Town takes only 5-10 mins. However, our taxi driver refused to take us down the long, windy dirt track to the house - so be warned. Luckily we managed to get another taxi driver to take us but he charged us 10 euros! Mainly for a car wash i think. You couldn't really walk it with heavy suitcases. It takes about half an hour to walk from the house back up to the top of the hill which in the heat is tough going. We hired a quad bike on our second day from Patitiri which transformed our hoilday! There are loads of restaurants in the Old Town - and the food is generally very good. There are also lots of little gift shops and a supermarket. The beach that we spent most of our time at has two tavernas and umbrellas and sunbeds. It is accessed by a road just as you leave the Old Town towards Patitiri - but its a long, steep road without some transport. This is the perfect location for swimming, sunbathing and eating and drinking. Highly recommended. Unusually for us we didn't do much exploring further than the Old Town and Patitiri, but didn't feel that we needed to - we had everything we needed right there.
It speaks for itself that we were a second time in this charming house in this quite an relaxing landscape. Even the terrace becomes better with a new shade roof. The communication with Antonis was very easy and comfortable. We can highly recommend this place! We would certainly stay there a third time.
