Welcome to Casa Tijera! This elegant 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath private retreat on a high bluff with sweeping views of Mexico's Pacific Ocean. Each bedroom has a king sized bed and en suite bathroom with an outdoor shower. Completely solar & off the grid

The houses is on a high cliff over looking the Pacific Ocean, nestled among fruit trees and natural beauty - private and remote. There is a small, quiet beach that is a 15 minute walk down-hill from the house, which provides excellent snorkeling and ocean-access for water taxis.
To get to Casa Tijera, you must drive approx. 20-25 min from the main road/highway that runs between Pochutla and Huatulco. If driving, coastal towns and beaches such as Puerto Angel, Zipolite, Mazunte are approx 35 mins to 60 mins away, though some beaches/towns can be reached faster by boat. This house is a perfect destination for an adventurous group of friends seeking a quiet and private get-away from LCD screens and the hustle-and-bustle of the modern world. Cell phone service on the property is spotty, and this is not a recommended destination for those who require 24/7 digital access.
There is a caretaker who lives with his family on the property. They have their own private guesthouse and are available to chauffeur in the evenings, run errands, help with cooking, cleaning, etc. for an additional fee. One mid-week cleaning is included in rental price.

This sustainably-constructed house is 'off the grid' and powered by solar energy. Although the system is perfectly sufficient for basic energy needs, please leave the blow-dryer behind :).

Absolutely loved our stay at Elizabeth's beautiful home. Elodia was a fantastic cook - I recommend future guests take advantage of her cooking: her shrimp in chilpotle pepper sauce is to die for! Will definitely be coming back - the house and location is pure bliss.

Casa Tijera is amazing! As great as it looks in the pictures, we weren't prepared for how wonderful it would be in person. Beautiful, clean, extremely comfortable and relaxing. Gabi, the care taker, was waiting for us with his wife with fresh made salsa and lemonade. Though they live very nearby in a separate house, there's plenty of privacy if you want it and they are super willing to help if you want/need it. Gabi's mother cooked a fantastic meal for us one night - as good as any meals we had in Oaxaca city a week later. The place is powered by solar but we didn't have any issues with electricity or hot water (which I was afriad we might). It is very secluded - 7km down a dirt road that's very rough in parts - so you might want to stock up on provisions on your way there. There's no internet and cell service is extremely spotty but we really enjoyed being off the grid - even better that we didn't have the temptation. If you like crowds and action and being plugged in this is probably not the place for you, for everyone else it's pretty much perfect.

This house was everything we were looking for : isolated, breath-taking views of the ocean, wonderful service from Elizabeth and the house-keepers. I would strongly recommend staying there to anyone who wishes to enjoy a gorgeous, peaceful vacation on the Pacific coast.

Congratulations on your amazing home, Elizabeth! We had a fantastic experience at Casa Tijera. The house is beautiful, the setting is idyllic, and the weather was perfect. The staff at Casa Tijera also made us feel extremely welcome. The beach that is within walking distance (10 minutes) is somewhat rocky but very nice if you enjoy swimming in the ocean. Tips: - The main attraction of Casa Tijera is its isolation - it is perfect for taking a break from the world for a few days - Rent a car (small Jeep from Hertz was perfect) - Do your grocery shopping at the beginning of your stay (you will not want to leave) - Ask the staff to get you fresh seafood (availability at the local supermarkets was very limited) - Read the "house binder", it contains tons of useful information - Download a star-gazing app before arriving - the lack of light pollution makes for great night-time views (and Elizabeth has a telescope set up)

Casa Tijera is a rare find. Amazing and secluded, beautiful house in a gorgeous location for a very special authentic stay in Mexico. We had a fantastic time, the road in is tough but worth it for the seclusion and getaway feel. There is a caretaker, Gaby who lives on the grounds with his family. They are lovely and super helpful, will make meals for you that are abundant and very good! We had mole and fresh fish by Elodie, she is a very good cook. They also helped us plan some getaways to nearby beaches, catching a boat right at the bottom of our hill. If you are up for an adventure you will not be disappointed. The house itself is very special, every detail taken into account, comfortable beds, outdoor showers and smiling Buddhas in every corner. A beautiful pool overlooking the water great for sunset and sunrise swimming. Things worth checking out in the area include the beach Bahia de la Luna and Zipolite. The market in Pochulta and snorkelling at playa Tijera.
