At the end of a footpath close to the centre of the artists' village of UBUD you'll find our tropical hideaway, Vanaprasha set in half an acre of garden overlooking the river and paddy fields. A private Balinese house, hidden from view, secluded from the town's noise and bustle. It is an extraordinary spot, with vertiginous views. You won’t find anything else quite like it. Read the reviews and be convinced. * latest update August 2017. Possible noise from building project across the valley.

El lugar

We have a staff who come in daily and who have been with us for twenty years. They make breakfast every day plus lunch and dinner if you wish. All you have to do is the shopping and even that you can delegate. If you have small children then it is possible to hire extra help - but staff cannot take total responsibility for child care.
Laundry is taken care of by the staff and they also carry luggage and shopping from the car to the house.
Because the staff, along with the location, make the place what is, we require guests to pay a 10% service fee direct to them on the spot while they are here. So that comes in addition to what is charged for the accommodation itself.

We are always available at the end of a telephone line but when you're there we're away! You have the place to yourself.

Ubud is a perfect place for setting off on trips and excursions to temples, water palaces, snorkeling spots, the elephant park, rafting, mountain biking, paddy field and bird watching walks. The house is just up the road from the centre of Ubud and cultural higlights like the Neka Museum, Puri Lukisan and the Antonio Blanco Renaissance museum and Hotel Champuan, the former home of the artist Walter Spies.

There is no direct access by car.
The house is at the end of a lovely 300 metre paved footpath through the rice fields - which is why it is so secluded! This also means that the property is not suitable for those with physical disabilities. The route to the house is magical under the night sky with shining stars - but you need a torch to follow the path home!

There is a driver, Juda, who is also our house manager, and a car for separate rent. Juda also does airport pickups and generally helps with putting guests in touch with bicycle hire, rafting companies etc.

It's not a place for a short stay. We recommend a minimum of three days.
The house is perfect for a couple on their own - we've had quite a few honeymooners - but you can also come with more couples. There are three fully equipped main bedrooms with bathrooms. One of the rooms has air conditioning, all have ceiling fans. Most people find that they don't need it since the property is situated at 400 metres altitude on a ridge and there is always a pleasant breeze.

Disponible para huéspedes

Guests will have access to the whole area of nearly half an acre or 2000 square metres. A couple may want to have the place to themselves but it's great for three couples as well. ( See extra charge per additional couple.) It is also possible to accommodate two small children at no extra charge.

Atención a los huéspedes

We are always available at the end of a telephone line but when you're there we're away! You have the place to yourself. Iluh, our housekeeper, and Juda, our driver and site manager are there to generally be of assistance. Komang looks after the pool and garden and Siwi assists Illuh with the cooking and housekeeping.
You can also go to our hideaways on the internet and find out more about us.

Otros aspectos destacables

Our house has no car access. We have a paved path of about 300 metres through the rice fields that takes you to the front door. That's why it's so secluded.
A service fee of 10% should be given to the staff (each individually or to Illuh who shares it with the full-timers equally). It is an incentive to the staff to do their very best but it is also a direct token of your appreciation for their efforts.

I couldn't have asked for a better stay! This property was beautiful and the staff was so friendly and helpful. Yuda, the driver, really made our trip special. There is no way to describe in words how breathtaking this property is. I will book again on my next trip to Bali.

We were very happy with our stay thank you Sicco for sharing your home and Yuda for taking care of us in Bali. Very pleasant place to relax after the hubbub of Ubud.

The communication with Pak Sicco was excellent and he made us feel right at home. Vanaprasha Villa is a beautiful oasis from the sometimes hectic Ubud. It is rare that you get a villa with as much space as you do at Vana Prasha. My 3 year old son loved wandering the grounds, looking for frogs and cicak. And the pool also much bigger than you usually get at villas these days. It is clear this space and villa was built before space became limited in Ubud area. Incredibly relaxing having a morning coffee overlooking the ravine and listening to the river flow below. Thank you.

The staff was very welcoming and friendly. They carried our bags from the road through the beautiful rice paddies and to the house. The space itself is just as described on the webpage. Beautiful, open house, surrounded by rice paddies and overlooking a river. I came with five other friends and there was plenty of room for all of us. We had the staff make us breakfast each morning (fresh fruit, eggs, toast and coffee) but other than that ate our meals in town. I highly recommend staying at this listing if you're looking for a quieter, peaceful escape from other, more hectic parts of Bali. While it's very private and far from the noise, restaurants and shops are easily within walking distance.

Sicco's Vana Prasha house is an exceptional property. The grounds are stunning, with glorious views over the paddies and a river valley. It's a short walk to central Ubud, but the villa feels very private. There's lots of space, great beds and bathrooms, a lovely pool, and very tasteful Balinese art. Best of all, the staff (driver, cook, housekeeper, groundskeeper) are truly helpful, friendly, and professional. Juda picked us up at the airport, and has driven us around Ubud and up to Batur; Iluh is an amazing cook; we even organized a babysitter to look after the kids while we went out to dinner. Sicco was very easy to work with. My recommendation is unequivocal!

A special spot, more than just a place to lay your head. Amazing views, a wee slice of paradise. Our party consisted of 2 couples with 3 babies under 2 years. We definitely had to keep a watchful eye on the babies but it was not a problem. Staff are gorgeous, kind, unobtrusive, helpful. Location is perfect, less than 5 minute taxi ride to Ubud.
