At the end of a footpath close to the centre of the artists' village of UBUD you'll find our tropical hideaway, Vanaprasha set in half an acre of garden overlooking the river and paddy fields. A private Balinese house, hidden from view, secluded from the town's noise and bustle. It is an extraordinary spot, with vertiginous views. You won’t find anything else quite like it. Read the reviews and be convinced. * latest update August 2017. Possible noise from building project across the valley.
We have a staff who come in daily and who have been with us for twenty years. They make breakfast every day plus lunch and dinner if you wish. All you have to do is the shopping and even that you can delegate. If you have small children then it is possible to hire extra help - but staff cannot take total responsibility for child care.
Laundry is taken care of by the staff and they also carry luggage and shopping from the car to the house.
Because the staff, along with the location, make the place what is, we require guests to pay a 10% service fee direct to them on the spot while they are here. So that comes in addition to what is charged for the accommodation itself.
We are always available at the end of a telephone line but when you're there we're away! You have the place to yourself.
Ubud is a perfect place for setting off on trips and excursions to temples, water palaces, snorkeling spots, the elephant park, rafting, mountain biking, paddy field and bird watching walks. The house is just up the road from the centre of Ubud and cultural higlights like the Neka Museum, Puri Lukisan and the Antonio Blanco Renaissance museum and Hotel Champuan, the former home of the artist Walter Spies.
There is no direct access by car.
The house is at the end of a lovely 300 metre paved footpath through the rice fields - which is why it is so secluded! This also means that the property is not suitable for those with physical disabilities. The route to the house is magical under the night sky with shining stars - but you need a torch to follow the path home!
There is a driver, Juda, who is also our house manager, and a car for separate rent. Juda also does airport pickups and generally helps with putting guests in touch with bicycle hire, rafting companies etc.
It's not a place for a short stay. We recommend a minimum of three days.
The house is perfect for a couple on their own - we've had quite a few honeymooners - but you can also come with more couples. There are three fully equipped main bedrooms with bathrooms. One of the rooms has air conditioning, all have ceiling fans. Most people find that they don't need it since the property is situated at 400 metres altitude on a ridge and there is always a pleasant breeze.
Disponible para huéspedes
Guests will have access to the whole area of nearly half an acre or 2000 square metres. A couple may want to have the place to themselves but it's great for three couples as well. ( See extra charge per additional couple.) It is also possible to accommodate two small children at no extra charge.
Atención a los huéspedes
We are always available at the end of a telephone line but when you're there we're away! You have the place to yourself. Iluh, our housekeeper, and Juda, our driver and site manager are there to generally be of assistance. Komang looks after the pool and garden and Siwi assists Illuh with the cooking and housekeeping.
You can also go to our hideaways on the internet and find out more about us.
Otros aspectos destacables
Our house has no car access. We have a paved path of about 300 metres through the rice fields that takes you to the front door. That's why it's so secluded.
A service fee of 10% should be given to the staff (each individually or to Illuh who shares it with the full-timers equally). It is an incentive to the staff to do their very best but it is also a direct token of your appreciation for their efforts.
Minimum stay 3 days.
You will need to pay a service charge of 10% of the rent in local currency to the staff directly.
