Kiyo's place is very nice. It makes you feel as if you were part of a family, and you make so many cool friends. He has eveything set up nicely, and has everything labeled in small posters around the house. I would definetly stay on Kiyo's house again, it's easy to find, and the area is so nice. Kiyo makes an awesome job to make it's guest feel welcomed, and confortable.

My stay at Kiyo's place was great! I got to meet other guests from all the world and it was an interesting experience. Kiyo was a friendly and attentive host. The place is older but comfortable. There are restaurants and cafes nearby and the station is a 10 minute walk. The place was a bit cold when I came in March but the kotatsu (Japanese heated table) was so nice to use. Gave me a chance to interact with other guests in the common room as well!

I was very satisfied staying at Kiyo's place. It was my first time in Tokyo and travelled on a tight budget, and Kiyo's place fit the bill. This place is similar to dorm style hostel but felt more comfortable like a home. It is a pleasant 10 minute walk from Asakusa station, passing by the Sensoji temple. He rents out portable wifi for cheap so a huge plus since I didn't reserve one at the airport and I was able to use it everywhere. And there is a washer/dryer at his place so it was a life saver. Probably the only thing I found inconvenient was the location since Asakusa is north of Tokyo, farther from hot spots like Shibuya/Harajuku/Ginza etc. therefore long commute time at the end of your day. Otherwise, great value for the price and would highly recommend for solo budget travelers.

This hostel is in a great location in quiet neighborhood, close to 3 train lines and Sensoji, yet not too close to the hubbub of Asakusa's tourist area. Kiyo is naturally friendly and a considerate host who does his best to make this slightly older Japanese-style house clean and comfortable for his guests. He provides lots of information to help guests enjoy Tokyo, and frequently goes out of his way to help with any particular needs. His attitude of hospitality spreads to other guests, creating a friendly family feeling that make this hostel so livable, even for stays of several months. If you need solitude and a thick American mattress, you should choose a business hotel, but if you enjoy meeting good people from all over the world in a homey setting, this is the best hostel I've ever stayed in.

Kiyo was an amazing host! Everything was organized and check in was super easy. Don't worry if you don't speak Japanese. You'll be just fine, Kiyo has great English skills and you'll be amongst so many other solo travelers from all over the world you will feel right at home no matter where you're from. Definitely will be back again!

I am the owner of Kiyo's House. I love traveling, and I've traveled many parts of the world. I was born and raised in Japan, but I've studied and lived in the United States for between 2003 till 2014.

In summer of 2014, I returned to Tokyo, Japan and started an internet exporting business with my friend, Masaharu. Eventually, I decided to start my own guesthouse around Asakusa. I opened Kiyo's House on December 2014.

I am native Japanese, but fluent in English, and currently working on to learn Spanish & Chinese. I love bicycling, running, exercising, yoga & meditation, cooking (Japanese, Italian, Chinese, etc.), reading, traveling, interacting with people.

I am relaxed and laid-back person, and would love to show you around in Asakusa & Tokyo.
