Welcome to The Glass Treehouse, Overlooking Waterfalls and Boulders

Looking for a luxurious romantic getaway for two? A peaceful retreat to reconnect with nature and each other? Slow down and relax at the Glass Treehouse—a uniquely modern Scandinavian experience, the ultimate Boone cabin rental. Enjoy the soothing sound of creeks and waterfalls. Unwind by the fire as you gaze up at giant boulders. This gorgeous mountain home has the feeling of a remote escape, yet is just minutes from dining, wine tasting, breweries, shopping, art galleries, hiking, skiing, rafting and more. Centrally located between Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Grandfather Mountain and Sugar Mountain.

Throughout this magical home, the line between indoors and outdoors is blurred. A waterfall greets you as you cross the bridge to the front door. Stone walls and slate floor transition up the spiral staircase to a bright cozy nest. The babbling creek is visible as you peer back down through floor to ceiling windows. Live plants, live-edge furnishings, and firewood alcove bring the forest indoors. A stone accent wall in the bedroom echoes panoramic boulders best seen from your pillow. In the spa-like bathroom, you are pampered with heated floors, heated towel bars, and rainfall shower head. The Scandinavian vibe spills out onto two decks for dining, lounging, and soaking in your own private hot tub, tucked into a rhododendron thicket.

History
The Glass Treehouse was built in 1969 and fully renovated in 2020. It is a 1050 square foot post and beam Topsider pedestal home nestled in the side of the mountain overlooking creeks and waterfalls. Our road was once the old rail bed for the Eastern Tennessee & Western North Carolina Railroad, fondly nicknamed Tweetsie. The narrow-gauge railroad operated from the late 19th century until mid-20th century. The steam engines stopped here at a water tower located at this creek.

Guest Access
Guests self check-in with key pad into private home. Guests must be able to comfortably navigate stairs, including a vintage spiral staircase. This home is not suitable for small children due to spiral staircase.

Privacy
The Glass Treehouse is in a small quiet neighborhood. We do have neighbors to one side, but the decks and hot tub are very private due to boulders, trees and foliage. There is quite a bit of space between houses. The bathroom has frosted privacy windows. There are curtains in the bedroom and shades in the living area. The rest of the windows are bare.

Please Note
Our private circle driveway is gravel and fairly steep. During winter, all-wheel drive, 4-wheel drive vehicles, or chains are strongly recommended. During icy or snowy conditions, we encourage you to park at the bottom of the driveway. Our neighborhood has both paved and gravel roads that are plowed when it snows. Please do not park on the roadside.

This home is on a septic system. In the bathroom, only flush toilet paper. Kindly dispose all other products into the trash, even the “flushable” ones. In the kitchen, there is no garbage disposal. Please put food scraps in trash can.

CAUTION: Please keep off waterfalls and boulders as serious injury may occur. A liability waiver is included in rental contract.
