A private rural retreat located in the high desert forest of northern New Mexico, this beautiful abode is tucked away amongst old-growth juniper and piñon pines. If you like being in nature, but prefer not to rough it much, this place is for you.
LOCATION: The town, (village is more like it), consists of about 150 residents, a general store and a post office. The property itself is on 37 acres, with 2 loops of hiking trails throughout. The three miles of dirt roads to the retreat are passable year-round and give the feeling that you are "out there". A 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended in the snow and in the springtime mud. Although television is non-existent and cell service is sketchy, there is WiFi at the Main House, as well as a land line. If you'd like some off-site adventure, Taos is 40 minutes away, and Santa Fe is about an hour and a half. The Ski Valley is one-hour door to door, and Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs are very close. You can visit ancient Indian cliff dwellings, hike in the mountains or on the mesa, and saddle-n-paddle in the Rio Grande Gorge National Monument.
ACCOMMODATIONS: (up to 25, 16 beds total).
The Main House, (1800+ square feet): 3 bedrooms, (2 king beds, 1 queen bed, and 3 twin beds), 1 full bath, 1 half bath, LR, DR, and full kitchen. This house sleeps 9.

The Q: (1200 sf adobe house) with a full bath and kitchen. This house sleeps 4-7. It has an open floor plan with a sleeping alcove and king bed. (There are no actual bedrooms.)
The Green Hut is a one-room bungalow with a twin bed. There is no plumbing or electricity, but it's only 20 steps from the Main House.
Lastly, there are three tents, which sleep 2 each, (bring your sleeping bag), and 2 Tipis nearby, (not waterproof), which can be used for ceremony.
There is another full bathroom with shower in the Studio, too.
The surrounding landscape is natural, with a large fenced area and gravel walkways at the Main House.
ADDITIONAL: We recommend an incredible cook, as well as other services such as massage, music, and yoga on site. This is an excellent getaway for groups, families, or harried individuals in search of peace.(URL HIDDEN)Hope to hear from you! :)

Because of the altitude, (7000'), we recommend taking Chloroxygen starting a week before arrival. (Available in most health food stores).
Please be mindful of the desert quietude. Noise travels surprisingly far in this forest. If you need to board a dog, I can recommend 2 great kennels just 2 miles down the road.
They have the place to themselves, but we have a wonderful caretaker who welcomes you with a brief orientation. He lives across the road, so he's available if the need arises.
I love the U.S. and I love to travel. Northern New Mexico is one of my favorite places- it's so eclectic, romantic, and spiritual, and it's full of art and artists! I'm an artist and designer myself, and on the side I teach yoga, (Sivananda style), and I do intuitive readings. Raised in the country in northeastern Pennsylvania, I then spent 23 years in NYC and San Francisco. Now it's wonderful to return to my rural roots, (but in a sunnier climate!), here in Carson. If you love trees, and you love the Southwest, this place is for you!
