Misty Vale Hideaway

Upper Lansdowne is ~2hrs from Newcastle, only 25mins off the freeway, but feels a million miles away with beautiful scenery & seclusion. Enjoy tranquil, epic views of mountains & farmland from a cute cabin overlooking a dam & wake to the sound of birdsong.

The CABIN
Located on our farm 400m from the road, it has an open feel with a cathedral ceiling, large double bed, kitchenette & bathroom. Many guests visit for a digital detox & to enjoy the tranquility of our valley.

El alojamiento
Guests will find the cabin fully self-contained with linen and towels provided. The only things you need to bring are personal items, food and drinks.

The cabin is on a farm and there are cattle, geese, gates, dams, electric fences etc. Guests are welcome to walk around the large house paddock and access other areas whilst taking care and remembering to shut gates. The views from the hill behind the cabin (4 mins walk) cover the whole valley and are stunning.

We offer breakfast provisions such as muesli, fruit, milk, tea & coffee. Guests should remember that there are no shops or services nearby, so come prepared with all food and drink items, as popping out to get a snack will be at least a half hour round trip.

Upper Lansdowne is a tiny village, but If you're making the trip north or south on the freeway and want to overnight, coming here only adds about 30 mins total to your trip. It's well worth the diversion to see the beautiful, green valley and enjoy the peace and quiet - it's way nicer than a motel room in town.

Coming from the north turn off the freeway at Coopernook and head for Lansdowne. From the south get off the freeway at Cundletown then turn right (north) up Lansdowne Rd at the airport roundabout.

The BEDROOM/LIVING SPACE has an almost queen sized bed, a sofa/sofabed, folding chairs & table, plus a reverse cycle air-conditioner. The windows have blinds, although you may like to sleep with them open to see the star lit view and sunrise on the hills.

The KITCHENETTE includes a fridge with a small freezer compartment, microwave, cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils. There is a gas-fired BBQ outside.

The BATHROOM is fitted with a shower, basin and a COMPOSTING toilet.

OUTDOORS there is a deck to enjoy the view north over our beautiful rural setting. Parking is available next to the cabin.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE
There is no internet service in the cabin and mobile phone service is limited, but you can walk to the house carport to get a Wi-Fi signal and up the slope behind the cabin to get mobile reception.

There are no local shops or services – it's 15 minutes one way to Lansdowne Post Office get bread and milk.

Acceso para huéspedes
Guests are welcome to walk around the large house paddock. The other parts of the farm can be accessed with awareness that there are animals around, gates need to be closed behind you, electric fences may be on etc.

Otros aspectos destacables
Guests can drive to the cabin and let themselves in (key will be left in the door).

In the case of a check in after dusk, the gate just in front of the house will be closed (to stop the wildlife from munching the house gardens), so please close it again behind you after you've gone through.

There is no internet service in the cabin, but you can walk to the house carport/deck to get a WiFi signal during waking hours. Mobile phone service is patchy, but the signal improves as you go up the hill at the back of the cabin.

There are no local shops or services – 15 minutes one way to Lansdowne Post Office to get bread and milk.

The cabin is on a farm and there are cattle, geese, gates, unfenced dams and electric fences. Guests are welcome to walk around the large, fenced house paddock/orchard and elsewhere. Bear in mind it's a farm, so please close gates and take care of yourself.

Upper Lansdowne, Nueva Gales del Sur, Australia

Uppr Lansdowne is in an ancient caldera (volcanic crater). The valley is surrounded by mountains/escarpments on 3 sides, which are the ancient crater walls and has fabulous views and walks. Volcanic plugs are still evident, Mount Olive is one that is straight in front of the property and another, Saville's Rock is visible to the north.

The topography means that the valley has its own microclimate and is usually green and lush. The Misty Vale name comes from the mist that often rolls in overnight, or early in the morning and hangs around until the sun comes up over the escarpment.

You can walk up the now closed, northern end of Koppin Yarratt Rd towards Comboyne and the state forest. There are beautiful, untouched rainforest gullies and fantastic views to be found.
