Ying's house was an incredible escape from the hectic pace of Hong Kong proper. Beautiful setting and an incredibly comfortable home; a short walk to a town where you can rent bikes, have delicious BBQ, and do water sports if you so choose. Highlight of my trip to Hong Kong. Highly recommended.

This is my second time staying at Ying's place. As before, everything is perfect, from Ying's generosity and flexibility, to the cleanliness of her place and its perfectly quiet location. I look forward to the next time I can come back!

It was an enjoyable experience to stay in a clean and comfortable home. Looking at the farmers carefully tending their crops was fascinating. A quiet area to enjoy relaxing.

Ying is a most gracious and kind host and her apartment is just as you see it on this site. Upon arriving at her home after an exhausting nine hour bus journey, she made a pot of tea and we had a most enjoyable introductory chat. After a hot shower I was ready to go out and explore the neighborhood. Ting Kok is a very small village with only a few family BBQs nearby. However, just a pleasant 15 minute walk up the road (or take the 20C minibus) you'll arrive at Tai Mei Tuk, a small resort village where you can sit back and enjoy Eggs Benedict and a cappuccino at Del Fresco or the best pork tacos in Hong Kong with a cold lager at Ent Restaurant and Bar. Afterwards head over to Pat Sin Ling Country Park for a hike to Bride's Pool or tackle the more challenging Plover Cove Reservoir Trail. Or rent a bike and pedal along Ting Kok road enjoying the views of Tolo Harbour. One can also take the 20C minibus to Tai Po and Sha Tin to visit one of the many museums - don't miss the Hong Kong Heritage Museum - and temples nearby such as the quirky but beautiful Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery. Above all, a few days spent at Ying's provides a welcome respite from the crowded, noisy cities of China. The accommodations were comfortable and Ying was always receptive to any and all requests. You'll enjoy stimulating conversation, a delicious smoothie or cup of tea, and gorgeous scenery. Great thanks Ying for sharing your home, history, and travels with this wandering soul.

I was in Hong Kong for 2 weeks and had a hard time deciding where to stay so chose some time on Hong Kong and Lamma Islands and then finished up my visit at Ying's house in the New Territories - it was definitely my favorite. Ying and I were on different schedules so we didn't see each other much but she was always accessible for questions. The room is very comfortable, the view splendid and the transportation options make it really easy to get around. It's also a great location from which to explore and bicycling and outdoor opportunities are excellent - highly recommended.

Ying is a kind and welcoming host. Her house is lovely inside, and I stayed in the larger room and would recommend it highly. The large room is filled with marvelous books, and there is a very comfortable living room and kitchen downstairs. There is a bus stop nearby and the ride into town takes only a few minutes. If a somewhat remote and quite rural location and setting appeals to you, this will be a great choice. It will seem a million miles from the luxurious towers and hurried pace of Hong Kong Island.

Everything Ying did as a host, was a perfect example of how an AirBnB place should be run. She picked up from the station, suggested great places for us to eat (including a local restaurant which uses the vegetables grown in the farm next to the house), supplied us coffee among many other things. Ying and the other guest staying in the house, was respectful to our privacy however we enjoyed their late night conversations in the comfortable living room. The room and the house was very clean and tidy and the environment relaxing. We hope to stay with Ying again some time :)
