We are looking forward to warmly welcoming you to stay at Stonehouse, this is a dedicated holiday let, newly refurbished therefore has only just become available for bookings this summer.

When you arrive, you will find a quiet rural village, just off the Burgh marsh called Drumburgh.

The guest house has a kitchen/dining area with recliner sofa, underfloor heating, an upstairs small lounge, 2 shower rooms, 2 toilets, TVs in the double and the twin bedrooms and lounge

With off road parking

El alojamiento
Your temporary home is a self-contained private guest house annexed alongside our home and is on the course of Hadrian's Wall, near to Burgh by Sands. The village is sited on a gentle hill with a good view in all directions over the surrounding lowlands.
A perfect little hideaway! To explore the area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB), Hadrian's Wall, the lakes, the wildlife, local nature reserves and the boarders of Scotland. The village is in a truly beautiful area off the Solway, however as with most rural areas sturdy walking boots or wellys are advisable.
Due to the rural nature of the area, we ask guests to remove footwear upon entering the house, we have some slipper socks to loan if you don't have indoor shoes. (for this reason we don't think its suitable for dogs.)
This is self-catering and we are 20 minutes from the nearest Supermarket with no facilities nearby. Some basics are provided for you on arrival; bread, butter, Jam, cereals, oats, apples, milk, tea, and coffee. The kitchen has no oven, we do have a hot plate, microwave, slow cooker and toaster for your use as well as some nice places to eat nearby. (within 5 miles)
There is off road parking with plenty of space. A patio and grassed outdoor area with picnic bench are also available (this is a shared access area to the main house)
Mountain bikers are welcome to bring and leave bikes in our secure barn.

Acceso para huéspedes
There is a very large front yard space for car parking, half of this area is grassed with young trees and boarder and mature lilac trees, a picnic table. Guests have use of this space, please note it is shared access to the house

Drumburgh village hosts the Drumburgh castle, formally a pele tower was originally built on this site, by Robert le Brun in 1307, on the site of a former tower that had been part of Hadrian's Wall. The construction used red sandstone masonry from the wall for its construction. Thomas Dacre rebuilt the castle in 1518.
A 15 minute walk down the lane will bring you to Drumburgh Moss National Nature Reserve which is a site of international importance, one of Western Europe's most threatened habitats. Sphagnum moss, sundew and other bog-loving plants thrive in the wetlands that make up much of the terrain. Curlew and red grouse breed and adders and roe deer frequent here.
this is a rural quiet village there for the only night owls we wish to hear are the local Barn owls. We respectfully ask that you are quiet after 10pm.

2 miles down the road is the historic village of Port Carlisle, and a further mile on is the Village of Bowness on Solway. There are a couple of really nice Tea rooms there; Pear Tree Farm and Walls End Tea Room.
