My family stayed at Constance's place for 5 nights to celebrate my parents 70th birthdays. We had 2 kids and 5 adults and enjoyed the spaciousness of the River House.
There were ample river toys in the basement, and we LOVED both the canoe and the single person kayak; there were also lots of float toys that we didn't take advantage of, but were there. My 9 year old nephew and his dad loved playing foosball in the game room, and the multiple decks were great fun. The 2nd floor is high enough that we could watch birds flying at eye level, which was such a treat. Also, there was the yummy smell of flowers every time we entered the house, which was a delicious surprise. The kitchen was well stocked, and we cooked all of our meals easily.
The location is divine: far enough from Guerneville that we didn't have to deal with too many people on the river, and close enough to redwoods and the beach to have a variety of fun in nature; at the mouth of Russian River and the ocean there is a place to view seals, and a favorite family activity was investigating tide pools (star fish! sea anenomes! crabs galore!) at low tide. We also had fun touring all the shops at Duncan Mills, and there is easy access to groceries (Safeway in Guerneville, and a small-but-expensive general store in Duncan Mills, less than a mile away) as well.
One note: I'm allergic to cats, and it seems this house has cats in it from time to time based on my sneezes; nothing that Benadryl couldn't cure, but others may want to know.
All in all, we had a "dream vacation" (my 70 year old father's words) and I'm so grateful to Constance and her River House for making it possible.
