The “Cabbin" is a renovated historic building that was once a cabin, but is now a small brick building (with the logs still inside the walls). In the spirit of Appalachian Trail (AT) hiking, most people rent individual beds for a night or two at $28/person/night. We've hiked the trail and know to provide hiker-friendly details like boot dryers, a shaver, Q-tips, linens, hair dryer, laundry, shampoo, soap, ride into town, breakfast, etc. Walk-ins are welcome, but it's always best to call or e-mail ahead so that we can coordinate.

The 2nd floor has 4 twin beds and a small, full bathroom. Downstairs is a small kitchen and dining area and a space with 2 futon beds and a small library. The space is air conditioned (or heated, depending upon the season).

For before and after pictures of the (historically named) "Cabbin" (and before and "in progress" pictures of the main house) look for us at: Mountain Home in Front Royal. Starting in about 2018, we will operate a full B&B from the main house, as well.

I was a day hiker looking for somewhere to park my rental car and stay at night. Lisa and Scott were so communicative and friendly, and they made everyone feel like family. The beds were clean, they provided towels, and a warm cup of tea from the kitchen after a rainy day was just what I needed. They were always busy helping AT hikers get their packages and making sure everyone had food and clean laundry before they headed out again. Don't hesitate to book a stay here. You'll be glad you did.

Lisa and Scott were gracious and friendly hosts. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, albeit short, and would recommend the space to travelers. The included breakfast really hit the spot!

Magical, peace filled, educational, and honored. Lisa and Scott are the best in communications. The bed and the bath were very clean. The cabbin was easy to locate and came with more that I counted upon. (Awesome organic breakfast- go Scott!) Our kind hosts treated us to a tour of the mansion they are refurbishing, 3 years into the 5 year plan. I was honored to share in the excitement on this leg of a passion they have shared since there own AT thru hike. The information about the grounds and buildings were fascinating, I feel like I am on their " team". A great walk into history, or the woods. If you have ever been a hiker or like to share trail stories this is a place for you. I truly enjoyed the other 4 house mates who each had trails to return too but we're pleased as I to be a part of Lisa and Scotts Journey at Mountain Home. My most gracious thanks.

Description accurate. Clean and tidy, nice people. Good value for one person but if there's 2 of you may be able to get a private room for simillar price. But overall exactly as advertised

It was as if we were going to stay with family. Scott and Lisa were very welcoming hosts and we were lucky enough to spend the evening with Lisa and their dog, Laurel. We can't wait to come back.

After Scott completed his AT thru-hike in 2012, we decided it would be really cool to support hikers at our own place on the Appalachian Trail. Transforming an 1847 farm house into a viable B&B has its challenges, but with faith, hope and persistence, we truly think anything is possible.
