One of the last original cabins in the Mutiny Bay settlement. Directly across the street from the bay and tidelands, with stunning views of the sea and mountains, Where the Traveler Rests offers accommodations for up to 6 people. A short walk to the beach at Mutiny Bay offers kayaking, fishing, and boating. Situated between the waterfront towns of Coupeville and Langley, and a short drive to all major event venues on the South Island.

El alojamiento
Built in the 1940s by a local fisherman, the house is authentic old-school Whidbey Island, and maintains its old-timey charm. Wood and natural materials abound, and details like the abalone shells set into the front steps, or the wood carvings by the fireplace, tell the story of a house that was crafted over time by its owners. Recent renovations and upgrades have been done, but care was taken to preserve the character and individuality of the house.

The master bedroom has a private balcony that looks out towards Mutiny Bay. Aside from the skylighted upstairs bath and another bedroom, the upstairs also has a reading nook and a door that leads to the backyard, accessed via a small deck on the back of the house.

Downstairs, the third bedroom and lower bathroom are adjoined, forming a small suite. The kitchen, dining area, and living room are a continuous open space.

All rooms have queen beds, end tables, reading lamps, and alarm clocks with USB charging.

Acceso para huéspedes
The property is on a 2/3 acre lot on a residential street, with easy driving access and multiple parking spaces. A 10 minute walk down the street brings you to Robinson Beach, where you can stroll along one of the best sand beaches on Whidbey Island, or launch kayaks, paddle boards, and boats.

Nature abounds in this quiet area. The yard on the house is regularly visited by multiple families of deer, and birdwatching is fantastic, with a pair of bald eagles living across the street, and other small and large birds.

Mutiny Bay is also known for its fishing, with some of the best crabbing on the South Island.

There is ample parking on the lot, and trailer parking is available, so bring your kayaks and even a small boat (max 16 ft. trailer)

Otros aspectos destacables
The kitchen is stocked with cooking utensils and implements, as well as small appliances (hand mixer, blender, coffee grinder, etc.). I'll also provide a starter supply of ground coffee and tea bags, and a coffee maker and tea pitcher. There's also a steady supply of cooking basics, like olive oil, salt and pepper, and some spices. If there's something specific on your mind, let me know.

There is no television in the house, but there is Wifi so you can stream anything you want on your own devices. There are two record players, one upstairs, one downstairs, so feel free to bring your own vinyl albums to listen to. A selection of classic albums is also provided. The stereo downstairs also has a headphone style cable that you can plug in to devices and listen to your music on the system as well.

I do allow one well behaved and house-trained dog at a time with pre-approval and a one-time $30 pet fee paid prior to check-in. Dogs are not allowed on furniture and must be supervised at all times when outdoors (there are deer that cross the lot). Owners must pick up after their dogs and dispose of dog waste. Any damage or messes from dogs that require professional repair or cleaning will be deducted from the deposit or charged to you.

The house is just a 10 minute walk down the street from the Robinson beach boat launch, where guests can launch kayaks and fishing boats. Some of the best crabbing on the island!
I love the hikes in Earth Sanctuary, or the Langley waterfront. Go to breakfast at the Braeburn in Langley, or for a coffee at the Cafe in the Woods - the roasting headquarters of Mukilteo coffee roasters.

Hi, I'm Brian. I'm a World Traveler myself and love exploring the Pacific Northwest and western US. I'm originally from the American midwest, but also spent a lot of time in Europe and Asia. I'm passionate about travel because I believe going to new places changes us and adds to who we are as people. At the end of the day, we're all explorers on this big world of ours - it's just a question of how far we go :) On top of my own travels, I'm committed to offering guests a great experience in my guest house on Whidbey Island. I made this area of the northwest my home because it's a great place to find calm, reflect, and jump off to the next adventure.
